    Hello.

Id like swap cpu in some edge e420. Now it have a i3 2330m, which is slow. I wonder theres a possibilty to put a quad core processor inside that computer? If its not what is the best option? 2620m? It is not listed on the lenovo website. It is supported. Where i can check the list of processors are supported by the edge e420 motherboard? Greetings.

an SSD might be a better upgrade than a processor, like the previous poster said, depending on what programs you use will depend on what upgrade suits you best.

I have 8gb of ram, and 250 Gb SSD. The reason of change is the i3 have no turbo boost. And im use this computer for 3d rendering and gaming with eGPU. Thats why i want upgrade CPU.

Question is not i should or i need, but what is the most powerfull i can put to this machine.

According to the lenovo website, you can get up to i5-2520M processor , which is turbo boost up to 3.2 ghz, however, that is the only thing they have listed, but they don't list all processors capable of upgrading and also depends on whether or not it will be accepted by bios, i know for my old t430 i could put an i7 3630qm even though it was not offered by lenovo or listed, so it may be upgradable to the i7-2620M Processor which is the next best before you get in to quad cores, i would advise against putting in quad cores unless you have good cooling and a larger power brick as the quad cores are 45W tdp unlike 35W

Thank You for the replay. I read the 65w brick should be enough for quad core this info is from 8460p. But im not sure quad will be supported by bios and mainboard, i understand t420 i t430 its ok, but they are different. Im not sure, but quad core cpus have the same price like a i5 2520m...

Sounds a bit tricky. if the CPU is soldered to the motherboard, than its replaceable. a BIOS update might be needed, but if that model wasn't designed to work with the CPU that you have purchased, than it might be incompatible.
