What is causing my mouse to turn into a zipper when I scroll? It only does it sometimes and I can not figure it out.
    Thanks.

    A zipper...

Are you sure it's not a scrollbar?

Maybe it is. It appears other than just along the side of the computer screen.

Are you using the third button (between left and right click) to scroll?

You are pressing down on the wheel (button) when you scroll. Or at least your mouse thinks that you are.
