I've been able to replicate this a few times now...

My two-day old i7 X220T has a few problems coming out of hibernation.
The repeatable one is that every time now when I open the laptop back up and get the logon prompt, the mouse does not work. The mouse pointer is present on the screen, but nothing I do hardware-wise will move it. Neither the trackpad nor the button.
I have to logoff by using the keyboard and then log back in. Mouse starts working again.

Also, tonight when resuming from hibernate the biometric reader saw my finger, accepted it, then errored out. Had to close the error box, then it was back to a logon prompt, and the bio-reader was not an option.

Have either of these happened to anyone?

This machine has nothing but Office 2010, Firefox and all the MS and Lenovo updates (including BIOS) so far.
I've never had a brand new laptop exhibit anything like this, much less a very expensive one such as this.

I believe this issue may have been fixed with a BIOS update.

    Lenovo Support - Drivers and software - ThinkPad X220, X220 Tablet, X220i, X220i Tablet

EDIT: The UltraNav driver could also be the culprit.

Thanks for the reply... I think the UltraNav driver was the culprit.

I had already installed BIOS 1.15 and gone through ThinkVantage Tools / Update Drivers a few times, so it was frustrating.

When I went to the link you provided and installed the driver manually, it sat on installing for 10 minutes, and finally failed on installing one of the two components. I then attempted to restart, where the computer then sat on shutting down for 5 minutes Windows 98-style. Manually killed it, then started back up. This on a 3-day old Thinkpad. :)

After restart, the mouse would not work on startup. Great.
    Keyboard logoff/logon, then mouse works.
Run through install for mouse driver again, and both components install successfully. Computer reboots and all seems ok. Hibernate/Resume seems to function as it should.

To be part of the club here I will also make a critical comment about the fan on this thing.
    It's annoying, so there. :)

I have a different issue. After coming out of standby, the cursor is frozen on the screen (mouse unresponsive) for 4-5 sec. Really annoying as I use standby a lot.

This issue is still not totally resolved...

When I put the X220T in the Ultrabase dock the mouse immediately locked and became unresponsive. No clicks, no movement.

Pen input DOES work however, and so does the touchscreen functionality.

After using the pen, the cursor ONLY appears while using the pen. Once you stop using the pen, the pointer disappears completely.

Do I have a special needs unit, or did Lenovo actually release these things in this state of functionality?

/hits Post Quick Reply with the pen...

I had this issue as well with the mouse not functioning after a restart or sleep mode. I fixed it by uninstalling the UltraNav driver. I also did a fresh install of Win 7 (was planning on doing that anyway, not just because of the mouse) and UltraNav driver reinstalled from the ThinkVantage System Update, and haven't had any problems since.

    I have an i7 x220 tablet.

The "mouse" works at the login screen, but as soon as you login, it is unresponsive. Touchscreen and pen still work.

I did something similar, I "Rolled Back" the driver in Control Panel to 15.2.19.0, rebooted and then did a "Update Driver" in the Control Panel to 15.2.20.0.

Did just a little bit of testing and it seems OK, though, I'm not confident it's fixed ... tried standby/resume with/without AC adapter plugged in.

I still have issues as I noted initially in this thread... they are sporadic enough to lead me to believe they're isolated issues, but then I come on here and realize I'm not unique in this.
