    Has anyone else experienced this?

On my Y500, if I plug a wireless mouse into one of the USB 3.0 ports on the left side and then plug in an external HDD into the port right next to it, the mouse become laggy/unresponsive and basically unusable. If I remove the HDD or plug the mouse into the USB port on the other side of the laptop, then it's fine. But I can't use the right side USB port for my mouse dongle because it interferes with my hand.

    Hi
I suspect this is related to power supply. Could you try the same while plugged in?
I am sure that a standard laptop battery is not able to handle two usb3.0's at one time and thus causing the lag.
    Regards
