I usually run my T61p in a docking station with a Logitech bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

When I use it without the mouse, though, I'm always accidentally tapping the mousepad, which causes unpredictable (and rarely good) results.

Is there a way of disabling the mousepad tap function?

Go into Control Panel > Mouse.

The last tab should be the UltraNav tab. You can disable the touch-click setting there.

Thanks for your reply, but there's no such tab.

    Tabs are:

Buttons / Pointers / Pointer options / Wheel / Hardware / Bluetooth / SetPoint Settings

Nothing in any of these tabs discusses the mousepad.

Looks like Logitech's SetPoint software has replaced the UltraNav control panel. You got a decision here to make here: is UltraNav or SetPoint more important to you. The bluetooth keyboard and mouse will still work without SetPoint, but you won't be able to use or reprogram the extra keys and buttons.

This is too bad. On the Dell d630, you can set it so that when you attach an external mouse, the entire touchpad is disabled. It immediately reenables itself as soon as you detach the mouse. Nice if Lenovo would add something like this.

Out of the docking station do you still have the little icon in the system tray (touchpad, trackpoint = pointer)? If you left click it you get the option to enable/disable tapping under touchpad settings.

I have no idea if this works but you could always try enabling and disabling the Synaptics (usually the touchpad manufacturer) driver in Device Manager. I don't know if it requires restart or not.... Sorry but I don't have access to the lappy at the moment.

You can disable touchpad in BIOS but I don't know if OP wants to disable the touchpad or disable it's touchtap feature.
