When I first got my z60t I reformated and clean installed windows (not the restore) and installed all the drivers I could find.

The problem im encountering is that when I insert a Blank CD-R into the drive sometimes it reconizes it and sometimes it doesn't. Im wondering if it has to do with not using the IBM original factory windows and software or if its just the burner.

The burner reconizes everything else just fine (including data cd-r, audio cd-r and all dvd's). I have the DLA program installed also.

Im contemplating whether to go back to the factory settings or to continued with my clean installation.

    THANKS!

You could try unistalling the secondary ide channel in device manager if you feel comfortable. Windows will find it again when you re-boot and re-install the driver. Is it one particular brand of blanks? If it is, I would try some different ones.

I just tried uninstalling and rebooting...

it didn't solve the problem

Its weird, when I insert the blank cd-r (I've tried two brands) it spins up and spins down constantly. Almost like it can't read it. It ends up working about 50% of the time for CD-R's.

If I partitioned my drive to C: and D: will the Rescue and Recovery just put the factory settings back to C:? Or will it format D: as well? I save all my music and files on D:.

    Thanks for the help!
