Recently, I installed Windows 7 onto my laptop. Everything went smoothly. However, I can't seem to figure out why my music hotkeys (Fn + Dir keys) won't work. I can only shuffle if the audio player is my active window whereas back in Vista, I could play/pause/shuffle songs while the audio player was minimized.
I've installed System Interface Driver and the Hotkey Features Driver but can't seem to figure out this last part. Anyone have a solution?

Confirmed, but I never new about those abilities so I don't miss them. Wait I do know now and I am missing them, DOH!

Does anyone have a solution?

What audio player are you using? Media Player? Winamp? Something else?

I tried it with itunes. I rarely use WMP, if ever.

Although I have a T500, the keys themselves should be outputting the same keycodes to the OS.
I have them working with at least Winamp and Spotify (and of course WMP, which I never use). But just as a reference case you could try to launch WMP with some music and try if the keys work. Both when WMP is active and when it is not.

i personally use foobar and set global hotkeys to control the music. it's even better because you can, say, press ctrl+up ANYWHERE to play/pause the music. you don't necessarily have to have foobar running as the current program
hope this helps -
