Hey, everyone! I'm just coming here to vent a little bit about my current experience with Lenovo. I purchased their Y510P Model a couple of days before February 7th of this year, and it said that it would ship on the 18th of February.

I wasn't sure if that was right, so I asked a very nice woman on Lenovo chat if it was going to ship before the 18th or if it was going to ship when the online order form stated. She said that inside of her system it said it would ship on February the 7th and that the estimated ship date was inaccurate. I thanked her and exited the chat, and was (and still am) very excited about getting my Y510P.

I logged in the 7th after it didn't ship to see that the date had been pushed back to shipping until the 21st of February. I knew that they said the estimated ship date is always a few days off, so I waited until a few days ago (Monday I believe) to contact support again to see if that was the right time. I asked and they said yes, my Y510P would ship on the 21st due to parts constraints and that it had to be built and shipped from China. The man was very kind and friendly, and I thanked him for his time.

Today I logged on eagerly to check the status of my order, and I was floored by what I saw. My ship date has been pushed back to December 31st, 2014 and the estimated delivery date is now January 8th, 2015 I'm just so excited to get this laptop, but I'm starting to quickly lose hope as the date keeps getting pushed back to almost 1 year from today.

I guess I'll have to contact support tomorrow and see what's going on, as honestly I'm just very confused on what's happening!

Thanks for listening to my short novel here. The thing is I only want a Y510P, so if it really is going to take a year to ship to me I will just purchase one somewhere else. The thing that bothers me is through this parts constraint that Lenovo has been having, they're still advertising on their site that the Y510P ships within 1-3 days. That is obviously false and really frustrates me. I would have purchased my Y510P from another outlet such as Amazon if I had known it is going to take a year to ship to me, and not the 1-3 days advertised on their product page.

That's clearly a bug, impossible for an item to take over a year to ship.
If anything, if you can still see the same model on amazon or elsewhere just call and cancel your order. Make sure they take your request.

I'm sincerely hoping it's just a bug! I'm really wondering if this ice storm that Raleigh got yesterday is severely affecting their ship times. I see that Lenovo is closed today and support is unavailable, that's why I'm going to have to contact them tomorrow. Still, my date keeps getting pushed back weeks at a time which is bothering me that that's happening whilst on their site the shipping time is still advertised as 1-3 business days.

I've actually been looking on Amazon for the same model and I can't find it. I purchased the $899 model on Lenovo's Y510P page because of the fact that I have a budget of under $1,000 and after tax it came out to just under that.

Like you stated though if it truly is pushed back even a month as opposed to a year I will cancel and look elsewhere for the same model. :)

You can buy the Y510p from Newegg, and they have express shipping.

And @Mods please move into appropriate section.

I'm sorry for not posting this in the right section. I wasn't quite sure where to post it, I thought just posting it in the Lenovo section would work. Sorry!

I've also checked Newegg as I've made a purchase there before and it was a great experience. However they don't have the model that I'm looking for. It seems only Lenovo's site has the one that I want for the price that I can afford. I guess I'll have to keep looking. I appreciate your help, though!

Which model are you looking for?

I'm looking at the prices, and i'm eyeing this one, which is only 929$:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834313739

It comes with an i5, 6GB of RAM, a Full HD Matte display and two GT755M's in SLI.

Don't let the i5 fool you, it can match the i7 in most games and because the i5 is dual-core, your system will run less hot than the i7 variants.

Also it's only a 70$ upgrade for the i7 variant with 8GB of RAM.

Definitely a bug... see what they say tomorrow. I wouldn't stress about it too much.

Hmm, that's a good point about the dual core i5. Actually my biggest concern with the Y510P is the fact that I've heard how hot it runs, so that wouldn't be a bad thing having something that runs cooler. The only thing about that one is it only has 6GB of ram.

The one I was looking at on Lenovo's Y510P page on their site is the one that costs $899. However for the $929 as you pointed out on Newegg I get another GT755M. Ahh, too many choices! :p

I want to give you a big thumbs up and thank you Jobine! I'm thinking that if my Y510P is delayed a month or more when I call tomorrow I will cancel and get the one you pointed out that is $999 on Newegg. I looked at it and it also has free shipping, so that's $1 under my budget! My only concerns is the dual 750M's on the $999 model on Newegg. Dual graphics cards like that would make it run pretty hot, wouldn't it?

@mace22 - Phew, I'm glad you guys are saying it must be a bug. I was starting to get extremely stressed out because I'm wanting my Laptop to ship so badly!

I'll definitely update you all about the shipping time once I contact Lenovo tomorrow morning.

Yup it's a bug. My guess is it gets to you before the end of February, or early March the absolute latest. don't worry too much about the fluctuation of the dates. It will probably change several times before it finally gets shipped. It's probably tempting to check the status every minute of your life, but just continue living and let it come when it comes.

I think Lenovo's products are awesome as I've always been fond of them. I just don't think it's good business for them to take even 2 weeks to ship a product. I don't think that it's good business to advertise that their product "ships in 1-3 days" when it's taken far longer than that. I'll most likely cancel my order tomorrow if they keep putting it off, as all of these pushed back shipping dates has kind of put a sour taste in my mouth towards purchasing directly from their website.

I've been reading other posts online and I see that I'm not the only one that Lenovo has done this to. They quote that an item will ship within a few days once it's initially purchased, but then the date gets pushed back further and further.

It's odd too. With no explanation or e-mail from them the money I spent on the computer was re-deposited into my bank account today. I'm not sure if this means that they refunded the money without telling me or what. I'm actually just very confused about the whole situation. The reason I'm confused is because I didn't ask for them to refund the money, and I did not cancel the order. I haven't even talked to them today.

It's just frustrating because I'm so looking forward to getting it. Hopefully I'll get a concrete answer in the morning. I almost just have to laugh at the fact that my shipping date has been pushed back a year and move on to finding the computer at some other outlet.

Did you use a credit card? They keep a hold on it. If your order is taking a long time to ship, which is the case, the hold may disappear but that doesn't mean they refunded you. You'll get billed once it ships, you may still cancel if you want to.

Oh, that makes more sense then. That thought crossed my mind, but I thought they had refunded me because they weren't able to ship it or something like that. It looks like the hold may have just disappeared because it has been taking so long as you stated.

I want to personally thank all of the members here for being so kind. For taking the time to reply, comment, and offer assistance. You all are awesome!

Thanks! That was very in depth and I enjoyed reading it. :)

Okay, so I called Lenovo today. I e-mailed them first but received no response, and the first time I called they were under heavy load and no one picked up. I just called again and waited about 25 minutes but finally got someone to talk to. I told them I wanted to cancel because the order was going to take too long to get to me (1 year). The woman said she was going to look into it for a second, came back on the line, and just told me she was going to put the cancellation through so the date that I was estimated must've been true!

I haven't received any e-mail yet confirming that I cancelled which is worrying me a bit, hopefully I don't have to call back.

So that's the current update on what's going on. I'll post again here once I receive an e-mail confirmation saying that my cancellation has went through. Hopefully I don't have to call back!

EDIT: So I talked to a rep and they said that it takes 3-5 days to process a cancellation. He did however say that cancelling my order is no guarantee that it will actually be cancelled. He was extremely nice though! So right now I've done absolutely everything that I can and there are still no guarantees on what's going to happen. I never thought purchasing a computer would be this stressful of a process..

Beats buying one and waiting 17 days for it to ship to your door. Then again, i live somewhere pretty isolated, in fact it took a week and a half for my "express" 1-2 day shipping from NCIX to reach my house.

Okay everyone, I finally have an update for you. My order was cancelled, but it was going to take a long time for the authorization hold to get taken off of the money. I called and the first person couldn't help me because places were closed for Presidents Day and he couldn't manually cancel it that day (yesterday.) I called again today and the guy said he would fax the paperwork over for the cancellation to go through, and it would be done in about 3 hours. I called my card company 4 hours later to see if they got the fax and they hadn't. I had to call Lenovo back and this time they sent through the fax, and everything was cancelled and the hold on the money was finally taken off.

What a dreadful process ordering from Lenovo DIRECTLY has been. I ordered the same computer (with slightly better specs though) from a reputable company who said the item is in stock, and hopefully it will ship out tomorrow. Lenovo's computer are amazing, they truly are. However I highly recommend NOT ordering directly from Lenovo's site. I personally recommend ordering from a reselling company that has the item in stock instead of waiting for your computer to be built, as it might take a full year for them to get all of the parts in stock/build and ship your computer. I will say though that all of the customer support representatives I talked to were extremely pleasant to deal with and were very nice.

So that's it folks. Hopefully my computer will ship tomorrow and I'll have it by the end of the week. I'm so excited to get this gaming computer, and I can't wait to start playing games on it once I receive it. :)
