Firstly -- I love this laptop -- a couple of years old but has served me well.

Can someone direct me to fix what should be an easy issue?

My 24 Gig harddrive has less than a 1 Gig available, and it is starting to behave as such. I don't even have many files on it anymore. The problem is with the backups on/in the IBM Rescue and Recovery portion. I have backed up a couple of times over the years and the backups total up to equal a big portion of my 24 Gigs of hard-drive space.

My problem is that when I press the "Access IBM" button during startup to take me into the rescue and restore area where I can see my backups, there is no obvious way to delete them on any of the screens -- could someone walk me through the process?

    Many thanks.

Hello, kiwi. I looked for this too for a long time, but I found my answer a couple weeks ago. Try the following:

    1) Click Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage > Rescue and Recovery.
    2) At the top of the window, click on the Advanced menu.
    3) Under the Advanced menu, click Delete Backups.
    4) Check the boxes next to the backups you wish to delete.
    5) Click Delete.

    Hope that helps,
    Matt

"Click Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage > Rescue and Recovery."

Thanks for replying Matt -- much appreciated.

I don't have a "ThinkVantage" in my "All Programs" menu. The closest that I have to that, in "All Programes", is "Acces IBM". I have been right through that menu and there is no "advanced Menu" or "Delete backups" option.

Can you (or anyone) suggest an alternative course of action/

I have since discovered that I needed to upgrade Rescue and Recovery from the version I had -- so that the "advanced menu" option that contains "delete backups is there".
all fixed now -- thanks all.
