    My Lenovo Purchase Story

    So last Sunday I finally decided (after weeks of research) to order a T61p. I thought the 25% off was going to end that night, at least that's what the Lenovo site said. In any case, I placed my order and all was good.

    A few days later (6/3) I check the status page (btw Order placed night of: 6/1) to find that the order had shipped. I was amazed and full of joy that it would be in my hands so soon, as it had previously said on the status page that the estimated ship date would be 6/23. So I checked the tracking page as soon as a link appeared. Here's what I found:

    My shipping address is not NY. In fact it's 5 hours away from NY. So I was very confused about it. At first I shrugged it off and though it was UPS's fault and that they'd update it to the right one with time. Next day it was still up that way. So I called Lenovo, and after talking to a rep he told me to wait another day. Next day I check, same thing. Called again and the guy told me he'd email me the correct tracking number and that my laptop had indeed shipped out for sure.

    I never got a new tracking number from them. I called a third time, and spoke with one last guy, who told me he'd look into it and get back to me via email. So last night I get an email and it says that it was the wrong tracking number and in fact my laptop has not been shipped out and is still in the warehouse.

    Overall I must say its been a big disappointment for Lenovo to tell me on the phone that the order was shipped, only to find out a few days later that it is in fact not shipped.

    That sucks. How did you pay, credit card? Is your billing and shipping address the same? With some places if they are different it is a big deal and can cause a lot of confusion for some reason. Not sure if that is what happened here.

    Paid with credit card, but it's the same address (has been for many years) and everything got processed ok I think. I'm just disappointed because I read so much about how great Lenovo is with customer support and all.

    What I just realized is, in their computers it said shipped. So if I hadn't called, the system wouldn't have set off any red-flags. I could have probably never got it because as far as the computers would show its been "shipped". :eek:

    Yeah I woulda had a blast just scratching my head wondering where it is hahaha

    Good thing I was so impatient that I called as soon as I saw the error.

    Updates to come as I call today. Note: I already sent an email this morning to the rep that originally updated me saying it hadn't shipped in fact. Still no response (guess they must be loaded with emails).

    UPDATE:

    Called Lenovo today at lunch, and was given the same answer as of Friday. I was told that a number of customers orders were effected by this problem, none of the laptops have left the warehouse yet and there is a "dedicated team" working on the problem to "find the correct tracking numbers before they ship out of the warehouse". My only question is, you have to find the correct tracking numbers BEFORE the packages ship? (seems more like it was just a customer rep that didn't know what she was talking about)

    After writing the post and getting off the phone with Lenovo, about to head back to work from lunch, I realized there is a package at my door! And to my surprise it had Thinkpad written right on the side of it.

    I'll be making a new thread after work with a first impressions, and possibly even a full review including the pictures that were asked for (snake). Check the forums in about 4 hours there should be a new thread by me if you are interested.

    :D I'm really happy its at my house. Now I just can't wait for work to get out :eek:


    EDIT: Oh speaking of which, it could always ship out and then they might update it to shipped a few days after, I know sometimes that happens so who knows! Let's keep our hopes up!

    yea that's true, i just hate seeing ESD: 6/27/08. that's sooo long from now, especially when you check the status of your order a few times a day :\

    however, i did just order a 2gb stick of corsair memory for $39.99, so now i really want my laptop because i'm probably going to get the RAM in 2 days lol

    I ordered the G.Skill ram from newegg last week because I thought my laptop was going to come in. This was of course before the whole tracking mixup. I go the ram this morning and I thought it was funny that I had the ram and no laptop :D

    When you're checking multiple times a day it does seem like forever, I know because I did the same thing heh.

    Remember, mine said ESD was 6/23, and yours is only 4 days after that and I already have my laptop so yours should be soon to come!

    Congrats Mizol ! I think you will love it. I am loving mine. I just installed 4GB yesterday :D When I knew they were holding my package I was just waiting to get out of work to get it. Its funny how so many peoples lives all parallel each other....

    Synic - you never know when you might get a surprise. As of this afternoon my order status still reads "In Progress" with an estimated ship date of 6/18 and I have had my ThinkPad since last Friday (6/6)!
