    Hi, everybody,

I got a new X220 with i7 2620m, but the windows experience index for it is only 3.4!!

I re-ran the assessment several times, sometimes it says there is a problem with the system and did not get new scores, and finally it re-ran and the score is the same 3.4.

I ran the Lenovo toolkit diagnosis to test the CPU and other things, all passed the test,

is there a problem with the CPU or the windows experience index is wrong?

    What should I do?

    thanks!!

Is 3.4 your WEI CPU score? If so try running ThrottleStop. Click on the Set Multiplier option, set that to Turbo and click on the Turn On button and run the test again to see if it makes any difference to your score.

Does TS help with the i7 throttling issue? I remember the HUGE difference it made with my M11X.

The new Acer Sandy Bridge laptops can drop the multiplier from 23 to 12 while gaming. Using ThrottleStop, one user has reported that he can now run reliably at 23 without any overheating issues. That's made a huge difference to game play and is a bigger increase in performance compared to what ThrottleStop can do with the M11x-R2.

I haven't heard back from enough Lenovo users yet. ThrottleStop is definitely worth a try if you are having any throttling issues. It's also a very accurate monitoring tool so you can use it to run a log file and find out if you have a throttling problem or not.

These computers were designed to run WITH the battery, always.

if you put the battery always on, will it increase the cycle time, and reduce the life of the battery?

I put on the battery on, and re-ran the WEI, you are right! now the score is 7.1.

does this mean that, with battery on, the performance of the laptop is better?

    thanks,

A throttling issue is when a CPU runs a lot slower than its Intel rated speed. Some of the X220 laptops with Core i7 processors might have this problem.

ThrottleStop is a small app that can be used to monitor for this problem as well as help fix it.
