I must confess even before Vista was released I was considering buying a new notebook anyway. I get the itch to get a new system every couple of years and was vacillating between "investing" the $200 cost of installing Vista in my Thinkpad Z60t or getting a new pre-loaded Vista notebook.

I had come to the conclusion that I probably should bite the bullet and just upgrade my system before I ran MS Vista Upgrade Advisor and got this notice:

My Z60t uses this graphics chipset on the motherboard - Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family

A little further investigation and I found this at the Intel site:

So my order for a new T60 went out on the ninth of this month. This time I made sure I got the fastest, most powerful graphics available. I'm not going to make that mistake again.

I understand your fustration. But IMO windows aero is way over marketed. To me they tried copying apple's "expose", but fell short.

Wow - that blows. I must admit I find that surprising on a relatively recent machine.
