After a very long wait for my Z61m, it was finally shipped on the 12/19/06. I was expecting it by UPS on the 12/22/06. However, due to the holiday season I was visiting my family to Nor California when it was supposed to be delivered. To cut the long story short, I went today to So Cal (San Diego) where I live, very happy to see if it out arrived. To my surprise, nobody from UPS knows where my laptop is, and also the status of the delivery shows that it was delivered to my house and signed by me!!!!!!! My question was in the beginning, how in the hell it was signed and received when I wasn't there, and in reality I was 600 miles away. Initially, the first thing I though to do is to find my apartment manager and ask her if she had received a package on the behalf of me. An hour later, I found that she didn't received any package so I called UPS back and then Lenovo to report it. Hence, they open an investigation case regarding the stolen laptop. I am now so ****ing pissed off that I call my credit card to put a hold on the payment and let lenovo chase UPS to get the money back. UPS truly sucks  . After all this time of waiting now I still have no laptop thanks to them. They have dishonest people working for them, because I seriously believe that when the driver attempted to delivery it and found I was not home he fraudulently sign it . This is the only reasonable explanation. I am curious how many more packages are gonna be lost in this season like that, so be alert. Now I am either considering buy another brand, or request I big compensation if lenovo wants to see my money again

I've had UPS on a number of times for myself, and for others, leave packages that require signatures at the home. I dont know what they do in those cases, if the drivers cover their ass and sign it themselves or what.

I called up Lenovo to confirm that they require a signature for delivery, but I won't be surprised if UPS does the standard, One-knock, leave the package at the door if not answered in 5 seconds method.

Drivers and neighbors are only human. Sometimes you get a lying bastard that wont do their job, and most of the time you get honest people. The UPS guy in my area is great, and for the most part they know to drop off packages unsigned in my closed off rear porch. My T60 came, and since it was required by Lenovo to get a signature (also was a laptop) they in fact didn't leave the laptop, and rescheduled the delivery.

Also, for all you know it could have been someone else who signed for it, being a tenant or something. Dont just blame it on UPS.

My condolescenes. That is truly bogus. Wouldn't you be able to find out who the driver (who apparently received a signature from someone) was, through UPS? I would be very much be interested in talking to the driver. But I guess if they opened an investigation, I am sure that is what the UPS would be doing. I hope it works out for you in the end.

I know of someone who had a Playstation 3 bundle delivered, he wasn't home so they left it at the door and it was obviously stolen. UPS is liable in this case as the customer did not consent to such an act, nor signed (or anyone on his bahalf) the package in the first place.

I had UPS lose my Latitude D420 this year after it was put on the truck. In fact, if you search on UPS and stolen or lost in this forum you'll find a number of such cases. Something is rotten within that organization for sure. I'm very sorry for your issues here.

The same thing happened to me on Saturday when I was out of town - signed my name. Got the call from UPS today that they will contact Lenovo - and an email from Lenovo stating that they are building a new system for delivery. Now I get to wait another few weeks.

You should do what i did. Dont wait for UPS to contact lenovo, but you give them a call too and explain the situation. Also call you credit card and tell them about it, so they will put hold on the payment - tet lenovo to take it with them. Also when I talked to a lenovo representative, she offered me after the investigation is over a refund or to send me the same laptop. I accepted the refund because after the investigation is over ( i will ask for a big compensation if I am gonna order a laptop through them again )

BTW, where are you located and how did this happen (just out of curiosity)
    Good luck mate!!!!!

I've dealt with both UPS and Lenovo so far. Excellent support from Lenovo by the way. They are sending me a same configured laptop. I'll put a call into my Visa company tomorrow. I'd prefer to keep the same laptop because I got a very good deal on the system ($400+ more now). I'm waiting for the system info now. I'll keep y'all posted.
Of note, I'm in the Las Vegas area. I've yet to determine the source, but I'm leaning towards a driver involvement (just my personal opinion).

How is this in any way Lenovo's fault? If you were asking UPS for compensation I could see, but I personally fail to see how being without for a few extra weeks warrants big compensation. I mean sure it sucks, but life happens. With the volume of packages they deliver on a daily basis especially around the Holidays a few are bound to go missing.

No kidding, just think of a Dell box going through the mail. I am guessing more people know what "Dell" relates to, over what Lenovo might.

well UPS should have the receipt that is signed and they can take that receipt out. And if they can't even find that then thats something fishy going on...

but I doubt that someone in your neighbor area or UPS can forge your signature.

UPS will have to take the blame especially signature is required but was nowhere to be found.
