I placed an order on 11/29 using the black friday code. It was all going well and was cancelled today, coincidentally the ship date. I called in to ask what's going on and got a new price of about 2200 (original build @ same spec was 1600). This is my first Lenovo experience and it has been disappointing. I've previously owned Sony and Fujitsu notebooks without and bad experiences.

Anyone else have their order cancelled?

    My build
    T500 Elite
    T9400
Highest res screen w ccfl lighting
    Vista 64 business
    4gb ram
    64gb ssd
    Without wireless provider card
    Smart card reader

Why was it canceled in the first place?

I think you need to escalate that to management, if you want to bother. Not knowing why your order got canceled is unacceptable...

Yea, I will be when I have some time. I had to get to a meeting so I just canned the 'reorder'. You'd think any orders that were a freak accident would be reported sooner than the ship date.

I would think it's the SSD offer (it was $about 250 off SSDs at time of order before any coupon codes were used) stacked with the black friday coupon to possible go below their cost on the parts.

I'll be calling back later once I am out of the office to see what's going on.

Hopefully some others have also experienced the same treatment and can shed some light on their personal situations.

Thanks in advance for any input/suggestions everyone.

    Here's the actual build:

if you have the confirmation email or some proof, I would file a claim with the BBB. That gets Lenovo's attention real quick.

    Good Luck

I called back and apparently received an actual CS rep... not someone standing in. This one seemed to know what she was doing. The first gentleman I spoke to was completely clueless and aggravated me before a meeting.

    She (CS Rep #2) stated:

Orders were possibly overflowing, so some orders become cancelled. When that happens, a Quote number is generated. The sales team can recreate the order piece by piece at the same pricing point using that code.

I'm actually on the phone with the CS rep right now... so we'll see how this gets resolved... they better be able to expedite my order though. Getting no notice of cancellation is ridiculous.

    -=--

So now I'm on the line with the Sales team. The order has been recreated for the same item... just received the confirmation message:

Looks like they've edited a few items...

AMD M86M Hybrid graphics... sounds a lot cheaper than the ati Radeon I originally ordered... Hopefully M86M is code for Radeon 3650... Answer: It actually is the code name for the Radeon 3650... sarcasm got the better of me today. Source (hopefully it's correct): forum. notebookreview. com/ showthread.php?p=3755822 - Sorry... sub 15 posts, so I had to cheat the system to post the link.

SBB INT.WIFI LINK5300... versus a 5350... Wonder what the difference would be? Answer: 5350 is simply 5300 + wimax. WiMax isn't that important to me (especially since I had no idea what it was...) so that's fine.

So far, they're turning me around from being a pissed off customer to a tentatively content one. We'll see if they get it to my hands by Thursday Dec 18 as projected.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll keep the thread updated when I receive more information contributing to a negative or positive outcome with this.

The 5300 does not have wimax, while the 5350 does.

Yea... I only got some of those features because it was a ridiculous deal. The SSD had a 50% off price at the time. So it was between a 250gb and the SSD. Being the odd ball early adopter I am... I had to get the SSD.

    Anyhow...

New Est. Ship Date 12/22/08 as of 12/11 @ 6:35am PST -- I was originally told the ship date (Ordered 11/29) was 12/10. After being cancelled on Wednesday, the reorder had a new ship date of 12/17.

Sigh. Maybe they'll get the whole "expedited order" phrasing corrected with "normal order labeled expedited order to appease consumer".

    I couldn't believe it.

I don't see any way that would be possible. How'd I know where it was made?
I ordered through EPP if that makes any diference.

I also called a little beforehand and asked a rep a few questions (was trying to get the full coupon code in addition to EPP discount...lol... rep said, sorry no way...
... but he did say "Oh yeah list my rep number w/ the order and 'I'll put it for an expedited delivery for you'". When I hung up, I thought "Yeah, right". Maybe he did?
Of course, I also got one w/ a goofy bulge on the lid...

    Update:

This time around, they under promised (ship date of just before Christmas) and over delivered (shipped today as opposed to the horrible 12/22 date last seen).

Hopefully everything is to spec. I guess we'll see on Monday when it finally arrives.
