My estimated ship date is August 11th. Has anyone ever waited a month for their Thinkpad?

I placed an order for the following configuration today:

However, the estimated ship date is August 11th, 2011. Given that I need the box so that I ship and sell my current laptop without having to buy a new box, this is a sticking point for me. Has anyone ever had to wait a month for their laptop?

 

My estimated time for my T500 was 4+ weeks, however, I had my new laptop in my hands in slightly over 2 weeks from the day I ordered. My X120e had a more accurate build/ship estimate, and likewise arrived exactly 2 weeks after I ordered.

Yes, it happens in some cases when Lenovo takes longer than a month to get the laptop to you, but in most cases, it's less.

 

My ship date was 7/28. I got it today (7/14) so 2 weeks seems about right.

 

Ordered 4/20 and received 5/26.

 

Okay. Two weeks seems more reasonable, given the JIT inventory system Lenovo probably uses.

 

Hmm I ordered a custom configured x220 on 7/12 and it shipped today 7/15. Should I be worried? The estimated ship date was around 7/27

 

You shouldn't be - it shipped already, didn't it?

I estimate my machine will ship by next week.

 

Other than SSDs, it usually takes 5 full business days to ship out from China (just an observation after placing few orders)

 

I was worried about the wait time as well but I ordered my X220 on 7/6 and it shipped out today. Estimated ship date was 8/1, so it'll most likely ship out a week or two earlier at least.

 

I just ordered mine and it's estimated ship date is 8/20. I'm hoping I get it sooner than that, but we'll see.

 

Do you know what pushed the date back so far? I'm looking at a similar machine to you, except with the lesser GPU and 900 screen, and it shows a potential ship date of 7/28. Even if I upped those components in the quote, the date didn't change. Does the ship date change after the order is completed?

 

Stark Raving: It depends on the parts that Lenovo has in stock. I ordered my W520 on 7/10 and it shipped on 7/13. When I ordered it the estimated shipping date was 8/8, 26 days later than when it actually shipped.

The ship date on Lenovo's website won't change, they'll just give you the tracking number for UPS's website, where you can see their estimated date.

 

I just ordered at T420 - Got 30+ days but was able to reduce it to 20 days by swapping from a 320GB to a 500GB HD.

 

That's around the same ship date it showed for me on their website I believe. I think once you place the order they make a very liberal estimate so that people won't complain. I could be wrong though.
