So my laptop doesn't boot up as fast as it used to. I think it started slowing down after I installed some new drivers for all the laptop's components. I even resorted to doing a clean install of windows 8 to eliminate the possibility of a malicious software causing it. Still boots slower than my friends Y510P which has a slower processor. I defrag it frequently and use ccleaner registry fix, still slow. It used to boot 15 seconds tops, now it takes 30-40 seconds. It's annoying to see my laptop outperformed by a less equipped Y510P. Advice and help would be greatly appreciated!

If his Y510p has an SSD there is nothing you can do. Aside from that, I would try uninstalling some programs that might be clogging up the boot process.

Also make sure that Expresscache is working by typing eccmd.exe -info in a command prompt as admin and posting your results here. Chances are, your laptop might be lacking an SSD or it might not be porperly configured.

CPU means almost nothing during start-up, since start up speeds are determined by the speed (bytes read per second) of the hard drive.

It's not that big of a deal. Most likely your ssd cache has other stuff in it while his has the cached boot files instead since he turns of his computer more often.
