I like short reviews
I was very close to purchasing this laptop for school (powerful and portable), until I found out about tablet pc's -
It was short and sweet, I really liked it. Thank You!
-
great review.. although battery life is disappointing.
if it's not too much trouble, could you run 3d Mark 05 on it? -
I don't think it's a good idea to run such benchmark. It only has an ATI X1300 64MB. It's not a gaming machine after all.
-
Nice review. My 6 cell battery on my T60 (Model #:200764u) also lasts about 2 hours, less than my old Dell Latitude. I also somethimes experienced skipping with the DVD writer when play movies. Other than that, great laptop.

wow, i guess Abaxter's comment on better battery life on the 14" model ended up being a miss..

despite what many critiques say i still think that the thinkpad is a really sexy laptop. great review. thanks.

If you're interested in Benchmarks, check out PCMAg's T60 review. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1933669,00.asp There's a link to a Benchmark's table at the bottom of the review.

Not to belabour the point, but just curious as to why you think it would not be a "good idea" to run it? We realize its not a gaming machine, but I think some folks are just curious as to the relative performance of the ATI X1300 card.
The benchmark certainly wouldnt cause any harm to the machine. -
I'd remove those tacky stickers first thing!
-
It's already done

Hi.
T60 is my very first notebook... So here I go with my noob question...
What memory do you use on your T60?
Do you know if there are any issues with gigaram sticks and Travelstar 7K100?
Thanks for your Attention
-
thanks, but unfortunately, none are with the x1300. like stated above, I'm just curious to see how much it's improved over the x300, nothing more.
-
Do you have a skipping dvd recordable multi burner? I just sent back my 2623 D6U for that reason. Does it do it all the time?
-
I also agree with those who asked for a 3DMark05 result, it's not about really high scores as such, it's more out of sheer interest.
Also, can you elaborate "the screen is beautiful", please? For example, is it usable usable outside, are there dark/bright spots?
Also, for those who know: How much weight does the 9-cell battery add? -
You might be able to find what you're looking for on Tom's Hardware
-
it's not the same. the x1300 there is the x1300 pro, and also, a desktop card.
-
Did you experience the skipping when watching DVDs? Were you using InterWinDVD player that was pre-installed on the T60?
If you anwser yes to both question then I can tell you it's because of the ****py software decoder. I installed the VLC VideoLan dvd player and dvd movies runs perfectly without any skipping. I got some minor skipping when using the InterWin DVD player so I'm pretty sure it's a software issue. I also burned 2 back-up CDs without any problems. -
I don't think the screen will do well under sunlight since it's not a flexview ISP screen offered in some 15" model. You can notice some minor light leakage at the bottom of the screen. I believe the 9-cell battery will add almost 1lb to the laptop and about 2cm of the battery will be sticking out from the machine.

For my T60... Fan always turns on... it is really annoying me...
-
Have you tried Speedfan?
-
Hi,
Joey, could you please check whether you have international warranty or not? I'm visiting US this summer and one thing stopping me from getting T60 immediatetely is warranty issue in my country. We do have IBM's here, but they are pricey.. My roommate's R52 doesn't have warranty here - so I just wanted to be sure.
You can do that on this site (IWS).
Big thanks in advance! -
I don't have international warranty, sorry to disappoint you.
-
****
I hoped that standart IBM warranty comes with IWS..
So maybe you (or anyone else) knows is it possible to extend warranty to worldwide (but for a laptop NOT bought directly from Lenowo?). I can't stop thinking about that $1500 deal from buy.com
