I don't know what to do as I just received my t61 about two weeks ago. I was at work like every other weekday and my t61 went to its normal sleeping mode because I wasn't using my laptop for about 10 minutes.
Well here I am clicking and pressing every key, moving the trackpoint so I could scan my finger and log back in just like I always do when it goes to sleep...but nothing, absolutely nothing. The screen was completely blank (meaning black).
This has never happened to me and I manually shut down my laptop. Ever since, I get two options: starting windows normally and starting window repair mode (recommended). I tried both ways, but my laptop will not start. I had to manually shut down the laptop about 10 times so far (by the way, how harmful is that to the laptop since I did it so many times today) because it ends up going to a screen that says:
ERROR
Z100: HDD0 (Hard disk drive) initialization error (1)
Press <ESC> to continue
then I press ESC, then it goes to a whole different screen saying nothing is detected (meaning USB, hard drive, etc). I think my laptop cannot find my HDD.
What do I do, please help...what number do I call?
I am really in an awakward situation because I am on a business trip and I don't know where to call. Can anyone provide with the phone number of IBM's technical support...

call 866-42-think
They should get you fixed up in a jiffy. -
Well I looked at the Lenovo website and here is the phone number for the U.S. support line: 1-800-426-7378.

WTH?
I started my laptop 3 hours later and I selected the "windows repair mode" again . But this time it went to the system recovery and restore program and automatically did something and booted my laptop.
What happened? Should I be worried or relieved?
And did the 10 manually shut down have (or will have) a impact later on? -
UPDATE:
Never mind, it's still not booting properly. Even when I logged in, everything didn't properly load...it froze, so I had to manually shut down again.
I am totally screwed! -
sounds like a possible hardware error.
call them, and see if you can get it replaced. -
i think something similar to this happened to my dell dimension before.. had to get the harddrive completely replaced.
-
OK guy here is the UPDATE:
After talking with the representative in Atlanta, he said I could get a new hard drive if I wanted...but he suggested since my laptop is so new that I should call sales tomorrow and see if I can get the whole thing replaced.
So I'll let you guys know what happens. -
How old was your system when it happened?
Also how hard is it change a hard drive?
damn I don't wanna go through all the trouble this soon...since I paid so much expecting to get a premium piece of machine.
My new T61 crashed! Help please.
