    Hey there,

I got my T61p about a week ago and it works like a dream!!! I figured that I didn't really need a new W-series Thinkpad, and settled on a T61p instead. Plus, I got it at a real good price. :D

Ordered it on Monday 7 July and the shipment left China on Friday 11 July and I got it on Wedensday 16 July.

In the next few days, I will post a review and include some pictures, but in the meantime, here is my T61p configuration:

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9300 NV (2.50 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
    2GB RAM
    200GB 7200rpm FDE HD
    15.4" WSXGA+ TFT (1680x1050) - LG/Phillips screen
    Chicony keyboard
    256MB nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M
    CDRW/DVDRW
    Intel 802.11agn
    Bluetooth
    Fingerprint reader
    9c Li-Ion battery
    Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

The screen is definitely bright enough!!!
The Chicony keyboard is a bit clicky and I would have preferred the usual softer feel keyboard, but I am not too bothered with it.

    ;)

Nice. I love my set up as well. Was exactly what I wanted. Looking forward to reading your review. From what I read, not sure if the W series will be any better than the T61p. BTW - the W series is supposed to replace the T61p.

Same here, so I'm very interested in your review.

As a side note, did you order your Thinkpad from Lenovo Australia or directly from China? I live in Italy but the prices from the local Lenovo are ridiculously higher than the international prices, so I'm thinking to buy it from overseas.

Yeah mine came straight from China. Where else do they come from besides China?

Weren't you dissatisfied with your original T61p and had to return it? What's so different this time?

Yes, my original T61p was an absolute lemon. It came from the factory as a lemon.

After 4 months of pondering, I decided to take another bite and purchased a better spec'd T61p.

This was also coupled with the fact that I could not find a viable alternative make of laptop.
