So it came today! Seven days after I ordered it! Anyway if you have any questions ask away but first I have a question.

The computer came with a load of bloatware as I am sure all t61 owners know. My question is this.. I was reading that some people who reinstalled vista without any of the bloatware that they had less battery life afterwards..? Probably due to losing the lenovo power software.. Is this true and how can I get the same battery life if I reinstall? Please only respond to this if you know what I am talking about..

does lenovo still sell this model......there website has been crazy lately.

I'm sure you can get the software back if you contact Lenovo.

    Greetings Sullivan18! I have 4 questions regarding your T61

    1) Are you happy with your machine? ^_^
    2) What are your impressions of the screen? Is it bright enough? Clear?
    3) What's your battery life been like?
    4) Does it run cool and quiet?

I appreciate your time and look forward to your reply. Thank you.

    Congratulations!

How are the color reproduction and brightness of the screen? Could you please post some pictures of the screen, comparing it with another LCD / CRT screen?

As far as I know the T61P ships with the same SXGA+ as in the T61.
And it seems as of late, all of the 4:3 14"s are shipping with the TMD panels.

To answer the OPs original question, there may be some power software that you don't have after reboot (although I am sure you can get it). So yes, your battery life may be effected. This is reversible though. You could try to find whatever software it was on IBM's site, or you could try downloading some third party apps. The best is Notebook Hardware Control, although I don't know if it is compatible with Vista, maybe google and and see for yourself.

Just use the Lenovo Rescue and Recovery software and do a customized install from the partition. It's not really a full "clean" install, but you'll lose most of bloatware included in the factory install.

My battery life is better after a clean install. I did not put back on the Lenovo Power Manager App. I just put the drivers on. I have a t61 14in with the 140m graphics. I am running it in power saver mode with the brightness around 1/2. I am getting probably about 30 minutes more of battery life up from around 2 1/2 hours to 3 total now.

THE t61p KICKS ASS. and if you want it to run quietly, then just get tpfancontrol4.1 and set the fan manually
