So i tried installing my printer drivers, and it wouldnt read it, just now i tried burning a cd and it wont reconize that there is blank cd. the green light on the cd tray by the button just keeps blinking green. Any ideas?

Start from the beginning.

okay, well when I first got it(begining of the summer) I could just put in a dvd, cd, etc, and it would read it fine. Now when I put in any type of disk, it simply wont reconize it. the green light on the side of the tray will blink, but nothing else will happen. I cant even hear the disc spinning.

Have you looked in device manager to make sure drive is enabled??
-
If I am not mistaken( I will know when I get mine, hopefully in a couple of weeks) the T61 has a hot-swapable drive bay, so also try popping the drive out and then back in/ re-boot T61/ check device manager again.

i removed the drive, then replaced it and restarted it. it will spin the disc for a second or two, but it still wont read it. the device manager says its properly working
-
Sounds like defective drive.

The only other thing I would suggest is to do a microsoft system restore to a point in time when the drive was working properly, dont think that will do the trick, but it's worth a shot.

wipe out the lense with some napkin and try again
