Am I correct that an n wirless card will also work on backwards on g, b, a platforms and that you do not need to change routers to use the older technology?
Is anyone really using n?
-
yes, n routers are backwards compatible.
and yes, lots of folks are using n routers and adapters for increased range and security -
n is extremely fast!! -
and requires a proportionate of bandwidth. It's going to make G unuseable,
-
"N" has the range and added security features ; but it is still at the mercy of the servers. I think there is the bottleneck. Most of the folk around here have some pretty high bandwidth rated Verizon FIOS but are always at the mercy of the servers. N is 108 Megs I think ..... twice that as G ; but all the distance tests seem pretty impressive with N.
-
-
What N is for also is not internet but intranet for media, gaming and video streams.
-
eyecon82, Verizon has FIOS that has speeds exceeding 8mbs.
-
Yes it is backward compatable and I prefer N only for the enhanced security.
-
-
Aw lame. I actually had Fios, then I moved a block away and Fios wasn't available lol.
-
But still Chicago is one of the main fiber line in the country, im in minneapolis and almost everything goes through chicago, i have Qwest 1.5Mbps i dont want to deal with Comcasts prices or BS I pay around 50 a month for both DSL and phone, the only thing i regret is cheaping out on the modem/router, NEVER EVER GO WITH 2Wire!!!
