I've noticed that the Lenovo/IBM forums are the only one without their own NBR Core sig badges, so I've decided to make a few. These are just a first run type of thing. I've included the PSD files so anyone can improve/edit them.

The font is Haettenschweller, which is (AFAIK) the ThinkPad logo font. Sorry IdeaPad folks, no badges for you (yet!).

Let me know what you guys think, and maybe we can get these hosted by NBR, rather than on my Dropbox.

I think maybe 30 badges ought to do, with the addition of X220 and X1.

Nope, no requirements. One can be a ThinkPad enthusiast and not own one, but usually, those two are synonymous ;).

Also, I encourage the other creative folk out there to one-up me and make better badges!

Challenge accepted! I haven't used Photoshop in forever though. :p

    Edit:

    How is this?

I was going for the Thinkpad Edge style, with the engravings too, but apparently that doesn't work that well at such a low resolution. :(
    Going to tweak it more.

    Edit 2:

Played around with the lighting a bit more. It looks a lot better in Photoshop than in Firefox. :( Firefox does something funny with the colours. I'm going to put this in my signature for now and see how it looks in an actual post.

Ok, just did some more tweaking and redid the "Core" lettering. I believe Kartika is the font used for the "Edge" on the ThinkPad Edge series.

Here's the result, any comments are welcome. I personally like it. :D

    Edit:

Changed chisel type and added NBR. I think this looks a bit more realistic than the one above.

You might want to realize that Haettenschweller is not the official Thinkpad logo font, Helvetica ( here) is the original font used since IBM (official documentation is here). Haettenschweller was simply based off Helvetica when Microsoft introduced their fonts.

Minimalistic design, just like the ThinkPad itself...

*Edit* Added second one, based on the World Time Zone design.

... plus why "Core"? Apple core yes, ThinkPad core hmmm. Should be ThinkPaddicts instead!

I was wondering that myself. Apple core is a nice pun, while ThinkPad core doesn't have much of a ring to it. Though I think mine is even more minimalistic. :p

    ThinkPad addict

    ThinkPad addict: lead org

I guess "Core" just came from the Apple forums. The Alienware forum uses "crew," so maybe another word might be in order.

    Hive Mind?

    Collective?

    Consortium?

NBR ThinkPad Consortium... sounds very business/professional-like.

I dont think Ill ever catch lead. Im sitting on 2 thinkpads and if Im lucky Ill be able to get the third in 2012. Even then its a stretch.

Maybe something in a moss or forrest green would be nice. Id settle for Jeep metallic green though :p

Why would there be a Lenovo "core"?

Core is a play on Apple.

It is like when the Lakers moved to LA from Minneapolis. There are no lakes in LA like in Minneapolis.

I just used "Core" as an example, taken from the NBR Apple Core badges. I think we've decided to use "Consortium" rather than "Core." It sounds a lot better and more professional, just like the ThinkPad.

I need to edit my sig badges to the new Consortium name, but I've been busy lately.

From my experiences, Photoshop is easier to use than Paint due to the amount of functionality that it has. Basically, if you don't know what you are doing, it'll just do everything for you.
