System is a Lenovo X60 Tablet. Operating system is Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.
Hit F11 on bootup and select "Restore your system"
Told it not to save any files, to revert to default factory settings.
Process completes, says reboot now. Reboot, an OEM preinstallation process comes up, it's a DOS window with lots of things being installed. Goes through this, then automatically reboots. After that, all I get is NTLDR is missing. I tried a the MBR fix tool (rnr31_rrd.exe) and this did not work either (Tried fix and all of the write new MBR options).

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Put an XP version of ntloader(.exe) in C:/.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried this and now get a different error, which is missing or corrupt hal.dll.

To copy over the ntloader I used a WinPE, and the C:\ does not have any Windows installation on it. Looks like the Lenovo Preload is not finishing.

    Two things:

Run R&R to factory again (maybe there was a problem the first time).

Second, I don't recall if the x60T supports AHCI on the SATA interface. If it does I suggest you try disabling it (XP doesn't support AHCI by default).

Ran it like, 50 times, making slight changes each time. Always the same result.
AHCI isn't a bad idea, I'll give that a shot.

EDIT: I haven't changed AHCI yet as I'm in the process of trying something else.
Someone with a thinkpad, could you check the order and number of partitions on your system?
    I've got preload(0) and ibmtools(1).
I deleted preload and moved ibmtools to be partition 0. Going to try again now, as I am pretty sure the source of my problems is a missing or misodered partitions.
