I see lots of talk on what drivers everyone is using on the 570M. I figured why not consolidate the question with the NVS140. I personally found the modded 169.09 drivers to work well without any crashing on Vista 32. Tested many and found this one to work the best for me. Let us know what you are running with.

I've been wondering which version to download for my T61's NVS 140M but according to the information on LaptopVideo2go.com, 169.* versions are intended for desktop GPUs:

169 series (v169.xx): NVIDIA's driver branch optimized for desktop GPUs.
167 series (v167.xx): NVIDIA's driver branch optimized for mobile GPUs.

And their main page lists version 167.45 as being the latest one for Vista 32-bit.

So, how were you able to install and run the 169.09 drivers on your notebook?

I am thoroughly confused about laptopvideo2go's drivers so some clarification on this is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

did you see their notes on the "modded INF"... they are ubiquitous on their website (in the FAQ, the 'read first' section, etc.). Basically you should see a download link of an .inf file next to the driver itself. Download it, replace the file with the same name in the downloaded drivers (in the folder, actually), and you'll be good to use that driver even if it wasn't written directly for your card.

    jbauchet is right on.
If you go to the forums and look up the specific thread on any driver it will tell you what original driver support. These are the native cards that will work on the driver. With the modded .inf you can use whatever driver you like. If you look at the actual .inf file it tells you what it actually will support. In short download any driver and run the .exe to extract. Copy the modded .inf to the main folder and copy over the original. When you install it will go right through. You will know soon enough if the video card doesnt like the new driver. Run a benchmark to see which works best for you. Use an uninstaller between each driver install to keep your files tidy.
