An earlier thread was mentioning a flagship store or a showroom, and a chat rep seemed to be aware of its existence but unsure of the location. A google search yields nothing.

Did a showroom ever exist in NYC? I can't find any stores that stock the T440s.

It seems excessive to order one from China just to see what the weight and size feel like..

There isn't a Lenovo store in NYC. Never was.

You can get to see quite a few of their laptops in places such as B&H, P.C. Richards etc.

According to this, B&H doesn't have them yet:

but you can sign up for a notification when T440s appears in stock...

Weird - ZaZ seemed pretty sure here (as did the chat rep): http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo/380142-lenovo-shop-new-york.html

I wonder if they had a popup store at some point. It is a real disadvantage of them that they don't - because it really reduces the viral awareness about their products and they're missing out on informing an incredibly wealth population of investors in NYC (see- Mac stores, flagship stores like Nintendo's). There's a LOT of consumer grumbling about super slow and super delayed shipping, too (2-3 months).

Is B&H the most exhaustive retailer of their models in NYC? It seems like J&R is mentioned often too.

With all due respect to my good friend from TPF known here as ZaZ, he was incorrect regarding this issue. As was the chat rep.

Even IBM in their heyday didn't run a retail store, and they owned - maybe still partially do - that fabulous location on the East Side in the upper 50s.

A *proper* retail store - given the NYC rent prices as well as Lenovo's low profit margin - would be a net loss every day of the week.

If one is interested in seeing a ThinkPad in NYC, it largely comes down to pretty-well-equipped B&H (midtown West), P.C. Richards above the Lincoln Center and J&R store downtown.

    Happy (window) shopping.
