There's this problem that's been bugging me for the last few days.
I searched online but didn't find anything substantial so here it goes.
    I have a T61 /w Vista. & Intel Integrated Graphics & the Intel ABGN.
First I have the latest drivers & software for everything through the ThinkVantage System Update I just ran.
Whenever I put the lid down on my Thinkpad, I have it configured (and the Vista default) to go into a deep sleep mode with the system only giving power to the RAM. This is great as I can pick up where I left off without rebooting into Windows again. Now the problem is that After I reopen the lid and my Thinkpad & Vista *RESUME* from sleep everything works EXCEPT THERE IS NO NETWORK CONNECTIVITY. The NIC LED flashes normally and the stupid Vista Network and Sharing center status for both LAN and WLAN show connected even THOUGH I cannot send or receive *ANY* PACKETS*. It shows X on the Internet which is correct but still showing connectivity after resuming from sleep for my local LAN even though there IS NO connectivity. The only way to fix it IS TO MANUALLY run the Windows Diagnostics on the NIC and after windows detects it can't contact the DNS server's it offers to reset the NIC after which it works again like normal. This is a HUGE issue as I DO NOT WANT TO MANUALLY have to RESET THE NIC *EVERY TIME* I resume from sleep. Ugh.
Now the interesting thing is I DEFINETLY know this is a Vista OS problem because I run Linux on the same machine for some of my dev. work and it works fine. So it's not a hardware problem. There's something deeper either being the Lenovo/IBM drivers or MS's core drivers that aren't interacting that ell or something that's causing this.

I was wondering if anyone else experienced the same issue? I have a ticket with IBM Support in Atlanta (which BTW aren't HELPFUL AT ALL) as they just told me to install the latest power management driver which changed nothing and the problem still persists.

I have had a similar Vista problem, but not as severe as yours. Instead of letting the router or the laptop automatically retrieve DNS servers, I needed to supply my own using literature from my ISP. There is a problem with automagic retrieval of the right DNS servers. The router or your computer will need to be configured with the IPs. This probably won't work because I had no wireless internet at all, instead of starting from sleep.

I am not sure if it's the exact same thing but I did have a similar problem with my T60 and Win XP. It turned out the fix was to change the "deep power down" option on the driver for the wireless card, also do the same for deep sleep on the LAN as that may be cutting out as well. It worked until one update, and then the final solution was to remove Access Connections entirely and let windows handle the wireless. Everything works great now. I hope this helps.

I uninstalled Access Connections (it was getting annoying anyways plus using a lot of extra resources) but I'm still having to manually reset the ethernet NIC (intel gigabit) after resuming from sleep. :(
One thing I did notice is that after manually resetting the NIC I notice a system 'beep' every time. This is probably a indication of a ACPI state change or something. This maybe a Vista problem.

    *UPDATE*
I have FIXED the PROBLEM COMPLETELY!
Apparently this is a problem only with the OEM Lenovo drivers they supply on their website and is pre-installed. I went to Intel's website, installed Intel's LATEST DRIVERS for the Intel Gigabit Ethernet controller (which btw is the full blown driver package with ProSet and NOT Lenovo's customized version with REDUCED FUNCTIONALITY) and after installing when into Device Manager, had a ton more options (allows full customization of the Intel NIC), went into Power Options and unchecked the power-save modes. Now everything works! :)

willzzz, I am having the same problem in Vista Home Premium x64.

Operation of the machine is near flawless. The only hitch is that the network connectivity is local-only when resuming from Sleep. There is no internet connectivity until I disconnect & reconnect. It can take minutes to do this on its own.

I have the latest drivers from Intel and Vista is completely updated.

    Still searching for answers.

After a lot of searching around I think I've found the solution for this. I'm no expert but what must be happening is that to save power under Sleep mode, vista will turn off the power of the wireless card. When you wake up the computer there's probably something that Vista needs to do when it's re-activated that doesn't get done in this scenario. Sleep mode can be a bit flawed with hardware. So the solution I have found, and has worked five out of five time compare to never before is to make sure your computer doesn't turn off the power.

    Right click on My Computer
    Device manager
Find your wireless card > properties
    Power Management tab
Uncheck the box for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
    Click Okay

Thanks Sebastien. I had the same problem and have just changed this setting as per your suggestion. I'll let the T61 sleep for a bit (it's getting a little tired with all the neg posts I've recently written about Lenovo!) and see if I have connectivity on wake-up.
