My T60 w/ T2500 core duo processors have been running constantly at 2Ghz clock speed.

The processors are running at 2Ghz with no programs running. Even with Task Manager - Usage = 0, processors @ 2Ghz.

Beside the HEAT issues! Cannot leave idle for long

What am I experiencing. Need to Fix Quick!

    Need Help

    Thanks

Use Taskmgr to find out what process is taking the time.

Verify that Speedstep (often referred to as EIST) is enabled in the BIOS and that you've selected the appropriate power saving mode in Windows' power settings control panel applet.

I assume you have done the obvious like installed the ThinkPad Power Management driver? Also, I recommend you to install Power Manager (the management software).

Other than that, if you choose to use Windows native power management, I can only repeat what others have mentioned, check bios settings such as Speedstep and settings for battery mode, AC mode, etc.

T60 hmmmm....wait a minute... (I've always purchased at the high end). Did your processor the T60 used to run at a lower speed when it idled?
