Have you got any success with the shunt mod? Mine is a y540 and I am interested too. Do you find any R005 resistors on board? Or maybe the 1050 does not have shunt registers.

power throttling on some games
that maybe, but there must be a way for the driver to measure power right? maybe the shunt resistor is not like the one on the gtx 1060 and up -
Could it be on the otherside of the board?
According to this disasembly guide, there are lots of... things on the other side (the video quality is not good enough to see what is what) but I saw lots of thing that shape like a shunt registor.

Edit: After looking up the motherboard on aliexpress and check the picture. Still could not find the shunt.Last edited: Jun 9, 2020 -
Yes, you do need to find the shunt resistors first. But ultimately i dont think there is much to gain from shunt modding the 1050 as its already running very close to desktop clock speeds. Maybe 10% higher clocks overall but thats it.
The only gpus worth modding are the Max-q gpus which have significantly lower clocks compared to desktop gpus. Comparing shunt modded to stock i gained about 30% more performance on my 2080 Max-q
