    Ok peeps, here's my situation:

    I feel like my Z61m with 15.4" w/1680 x 1050 resolution is too small for my eyes. I'm thinking about switching to a T60 with XGA 1024 x 768.

If I make this switch, I will gain some things and lose some things:

    Gain:
    - Save $50 ($100 price difference - $50 shipping)
    - 1.83 ghz chip (vs 1.66 ghz)
    - 9 cell battery (vs 6 cell)
    - Office Small Business (vs Office Basic)

    Lose:
    - ATI x1400 graphics card (vs integrated graphics)
    - clearer/crisper resolution
    - Integrated Camera

Is there anything else I'm missing? Any other factors I should weigh and consider?

Thanks in advance for your help...

How long have you given the screen? Have you adjusted fonts to be larger/enabled cleartype?

50 dollars=irrelevant when considering cost of laptop
Processor=not important, 1.66 is plenty strong enough.
Battery=could be important, how mobile are you? Can upgrade aftermarket.
Office=do you need the additional features?, also can upgrade aftermarket

GPU=cannot upgrade later, decent card-future proofs machine and gives the ability to play some games.
    Camera=do you use it?

I was using an e1505 with wxga resolution and at first I hated it, in a week or so I grew to love it...now I have a t60 14.1 sxga+..I am going through the same thing, the res seems to high, giving me eye strain, etc. I am adjusting and loving the greater real-estate.

Consider giving it a while, how long to you have to return?

Also consider a 15.4 sxga, I believe they offer this option on the t60..You may not want/need to make sure a big jump down in resolution.

The t-series are also standard 4:3 aspect ratio, bear that in mind.

Let me know if you have any more questions about the t60 or anything else.

    Cheers

Perhaps the Z61t with the WXGA+ would be a little better.

Yes, I have increased the font size to 120. What is cleartype?

I travel with it every single day, but I plug it in so battery life isn't that big of a deal. I just got my RMA number, so I think have 30 more days to return it.

It would be great if somehow I could see a T60 in real life...

Try going to Display Properties=>Settings tab=>Advanced...=>General and choose proper DPI settings for your display (you can choose custom and try matching the on-screen ruler with real one).

btw 10 out of 10 times i would prefer T than Z, but 1024x768 is simply too less space.

If the upper-mentioned trick works for you, and you can get the T in 1400x1050 don't hesitate!
