Need advice for clean install on T400, thanks!

I have already read lots of threads in this forum
but I still have some questions about the software and drivers

    1. What is "Intel AMT"? Which one should I to install, Intel AMT 4.0 or 2.6 or both?

    2. I think system will run smoothly without the drivers of
    CD-ROM,
    Hard drive,
    Hard drive Firmware Update Utility
    Access Help online User's Guide
    Help Center
    Message Center
    EasyEject utility
    Keyboard Customizer
InterVideo WinDVD player (I think this one is the junk).

So do I still need install their drivers for improve the performance?

    3. How about the "ThinkVantage Technologies" package? Could I install the separate software from this package ?

I am interested in ThinkVantage GPS. But I do not have idea with
    ThinkVantage Access Connections
    ThinkVantage Client Security Solution
    ThinkVantage Productivity Center
    ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery
    Trusted Platform Module (TPM)

    4. I don't know whether it is necessary to install

Registry Patch enabling Device Initiated Power Management on SATA
Registry patch to change IDLE IRP timing by Fingerprint reader (I do not have fingerprint reader)
Registry patch to improve USB device detection on resume from sleep
Registry Patch enabling USB S3 Power Management
Registry patch enabling Wake Up on LAN from Standby for Energy Star

    5. What is the "Presentation Director"?

    Thank you very much!

Not complete answers, but I think some of this might be helpful:

    1) "Using built-in platform capabilities and popular third-party management and security applications, Intel AMT allows IT to better discover, heal, and protect their networked computing assets."
If you're a single user, you don't need it.

    2)Drivers
CD-ROM - maybe it's related to powering it off to save battery, but not sure
Hard drive - could also be related to power management, again dunno
Hard drive Firmware Update Utility - huh?
Access Help online User's Guide - yea, you really need a piece of sw running to get help
    Help Center - ?
Message Center - kept "teaching" me features on my laptop for a week or two, one tip every morning. useless after that (I am guessing of course)
EasyEject utility - this is Fn-F9, duplicated functionality of "safely remove hardware" in windows
Keyboard Customizer - custom keyboard mappings, I only use the delay in caps lock to keep it from accidentally switching when I miss shift and hit it
InterVideo WinDVD player (I think this one is the junk) - I never watched a dvd on this laptop and I doubt I ever will

    3.
ThinkVantage Access Connections - VERY nice piece of sw. saves my wireless configs and passwords, and automatically logs on after detecting which one is available. this is a keeper for me
ThinkVantage Client Security Solution - in case your laptop gets stolen. I have it enabled but the first thing anyone with half a brain would do is wipe out the hdd.
ThinkVantage Productivity Center - suite launcher. useless
ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery - also accessed during boot, but that one does not make rescue images, it only recovers from images. so yes, I use it
Trusted Platform Module (TPM) - for encryption, etc. runs on vista, I have xp and don't miss it

    4.
Registry Patch enabling Device Initiated Power Management on SATA - I guess to send HDD to idle mode when unused, and maybe even to standby
Registry patch to change IDLE IRP timing by Fingerprint reader (I do not have fingerprint reader)
Registry patch to improve USB device detection on resume from sleep - guess this is a nice one, although I have not tested my system otherwise. I like my sd card to be active upon wakeup without removing and reinserting it
Registry Patch enabling USB S3 Power Management - maybe to keep the usb to keep sending power to devices, or maybe to wake up on USB commands, dunno
Registry patch enabling Wake Up on LAN from Standby for Energy Star - yea, like I need anyone else to wake my computer up

    5. What is the "Presentation Director"?
Display schemes for external monitor management (extended desktop, or duplicated view, etc.)

    I appreciate it, receph!

Is that "Presentation Director" useful for the thinkpad?
