i am looking at the entry level models of these laptops and really need help choosing.
my budget is around the price of these laptops (after the current discount that is being given by lenovo).

y510p has 15" 1366*768 antiglare screen while 410p has 14" 1600*900 antiglare. other things are same in these two laptops. price same.

y500 has full hd screen but glossy type and it has a 16gb ssd. but the processor is older (3630qm vs 4700mq in the other two), apparently has lower power backup capacity than those two and is priced 40$ higher at 870$. this is really the highest i am willing to go.

antiglare seems like a big plus point to me. currently i use a 14" er and i think 15.6 would be better as i dont need to carry around too much and would suit my needs specially for gaming. so i am kinda leaning towards 510. but dont know if it will be pixelated too much. then 410 probably because the higher resolution appeals somewhat to me and i already use a 14" so it wont be a downgrade in size anyway. higher res than that will make me run games at non-native i think which might lower quality although i am not quite sure on that point.

    any other suggestion is welcome.

You may want to wait for someone to post up a picture of their Y410p, judging from the comments in the owner's thread, the 900p screen is a semi-gloss and not a typical anti-glare panel as one would expect.

I've had my Y410P for 3 days now - I bought it specifically for gaming on the go.

The "anti glare" screen doesnt do much for anti glare. It has a very similar, if not, the same amount of glare as my mac book pro does. The bezel around the screen is also black, and highly glossy. So if you plan to use this outside, near windows, or in florescent lighting, be prepared for a lot of glare.

I would get the full hd y500 with a ssd because the major update to the i7 in Haswell is the igp, which is worthless with the sli 750m anyways.

I just received my Y410P today and it is not a glare-free screen. It is what they call anti-glare which to me is still pretty glossy. I was expecting a matte screen but I guess I will have to deal with the glossy one. The resolution on the Y410P at 1600x900 is fine for me as well. I was going to get the 15.6" Y510P, but the only advantages are screen size, a number pad and 1 extra USB 3.0 port. As of today, June 14th, the Y410P with 1600x900 display is the same price as the Y510P with a 1366x768 display. Upgrading the display to 1920x1080 will cost you more than a couple hundred extra. If I were going to choose between the 2 at today's price, I'd still go with the Y410P because I don't like a large screen with low resolution. I also like my portable computer to be more portable and the Y410P is not too big. Don't go for the mSATA SSD because it is only 24 GB and you can get a larger one and add it yourself. The slots are there. So far I love it except for Windows 8.
