    Hi

I have spent a fair bit of time reading and searching before narrowing down my choice of laptop to purchase to either a Z61m and a T60.

The specs for the Z61m are:
    # Intel® Core™ Duo 1.83GHz
    # Windows® XP Professional
    # 15.4" Display (WSXGA+ - 1680 X 1050)
    # Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
    # Integrated Gigabit Ethernet
    # 1GB RAM
    # 80GB Hard Drive
    # Super Multiburner
    # ATI Mobility Radeon X1400
    # Integrated Fingerprint Reader
    # Weight : 6.47lbs

The specs for the T60 are:
    # Intel® Core™ Duo 2.0GHz
    # Windows® XP Professional
    # 14.1" Display (SXGA - 1400x1050)
    # Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG
    # Integrated Intel PRO/1000 Gigabit Ethernet
    # 1GB RAM
    # 100GB Hard Drive
    # Super Multi-Burner Drive
    # ATI Mobility Radeon X1400
    # Integrated Fingerprint Reader
    # Weight : 5.5 lbs

Price difference : $348 more for the T60

I plan to use the laptop at school, will be doing a lot of spreadsheet mechanics etc. High resolution is also important and I will be carrying the laptop around to/from and around school. My budget is around $1500, the Z61m is below this while the T60 is above it but I don't want to make a decision based only on cost, unless it's the only difference.

    Can someone help me decide?

    Thanks!

That says the T60 to me. The Z61m, while a great machine, is a bit heavy even compared to competitiors in its class like the Fujitsu e8210 or HP nc8430. If you can live without the x1400 there are cheaper options on the internet, but you won't get Lenovo's return policy.

Thanks for the reply. I will also wait to hear from others on this forum who may have an opinion.

No. I don't care much for x1400, I don't plan to play any games (is there any reason why it might be useful?). Can you point me to the other cheaper options that you're referring to? What price ranges are they in?

Also, can you elaborate on your comment on Lenovo's return policy?

    Thanks!

I am pretty sure that you can get teh T60 for much cheaper if you dont need the X1400 and can go with integrated graphics. I think the T60 is better as well, because its a pound lighter annd has better specs. And I personally believe that all ThinkPads should be standard screen, not widescreen. The T60 is worth the extra $350.

To bad you missed the $200 rebate. You might want to see if it comes back. Again if you buy on the internet you won't get Lenovo's return policy.
