I've heard a lot about the Y580 heating problems with the HDD, is it really that big of an issue in extended gaming? How many hours is considered extended gaming and what can you do to prevent / fix the issues for the overheating problem? Alternatively should I just cancel my order on the Y580 and get a Y500? I heard the Y500 do not have the overheating problem but do have a battery power issue (it doesn't last as long).
Alternatively are there any other reliable brands/laptops I can get for around 900 dollars the same specs? I went Lenovo because they're reliable as I've been told.

Thanks for the reply, that's probably the only game I would be playing on my laptop anyway so I'll probably stick to the Y580. Just incase I do choose to play any other games or need a mobile rig. I was just scared about the over-heating and now i'm seeing threads about WiFi and the trackpad and what not lol

The track pad on these newest Y580 with Windows 8 are pretty bad. A loss of finger recognition happened for me nearly 25% of the time. The shell is pretty plastic-y and cheap feeling. Overall, I was not impressed and would definitely take the Y500 over it even with the 1 less USB port and slower GPU.

I think Win 8 doesn't support multi gestures for Y580 so the trackpad may pose a problem until new drivers are out. For the shell, I have to admit my previous dv6 feels better and easier to clean but it's not a deal breaker for me. Just get the FHD screen if you are choosing between the two.

Y500 have better design, better heat cooling system, and also you can have more options in ultra bay for few hundred bucks, and you will get 40-50% improvement in gaming performance compared to y580 if you go Sli. You get about 2.5-3hrs gaming on High Performance battery mode.
Need help deciding.. Y580 or Y500?
