    Hello,

I tried to do a clean install of XP Professional a few times following Ark's guide, but I just didn't have any luck. I had to use the R&R discs so that I could reinstall an OS.

There are some lingering problems that I need solved:
    1. Taken from Ark's guide:
Config > Serial ATA (SATA) > Set AHCI to Compatibility*
    Hit Esc
    Hit Esc again
Startup > Boot > Move ATAPI CD0 to the topmost spot (1)

Hit F10 to save and exit. The computer restarts.

Upon bootup, hit any key to boot from disc.

*You are setting it to Compatibility mode because in AHCI, the XP CD will not recognize the HDD. Don't worry though, we will switch it to back to AHCI later in the guide.

I just went to change those settings back to the default, but when I changed Compatibility back to AHCI, my computer wouldn't load Windows. It would come up with a black screen that asks if I want to use safe mode, the last configuration that worked, or if I want to start Windows normally. I would select the last configuration option or the start Windows normally option, but either way, a blue error screen would follow. I had to change it back to Compatibility so that I could reach the Windows log in screen.

I get this pop up every time I reach my desktop after booting my laptop. How do I fix this?

    Thanks in advance.

Wrt to the TPM error, you can probably get rid of it by disabling the TPM chip (assuming you don't use it); this is done through the BIOS.

Hmm thanks, I'll try that, but I don't really want to disable it.

    Anybody else have any input?
