Wanted to say the community at notebookreview.com is great. Keep on doing what you guys do!

Going to pull the trigger on a T60 widscreen for school.

I just wanted to know does the Wide T60 w/ a WSXGA+ screen and ATI x1400 128MB handle Aero?

Do I need a bigger video card like that on the T60p to run vista on the highest settings?

Is the T60p IPS screen that much better than the Samsung 15.4 screen?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

It will run fine on the x1400.

If you can, i'd get the flexview screen. (Not sure if IPS is the same thing?)

From what i've heard the samsung 15.4 screen is very good; I have the flexview though and I absolutely love it. Vista's glass interface will run fine even on the latest integrated graphics chipsets, so the x1400 will have absolutely no problem with it.

The IPS screen is the best matte screen available today. The colors & viewing angles are amazing. I have the 14.1" regular LCD with not many complaints--the viewing angles are decent, but nothing spectacular. If you will be doing any sort of professional color work, you will want either an IPS or CRT screen. Is there a particlular reason that you need a widescreen? Otherwise a t60p might be a better fit. Alternatively, you could look into the 15.4 inch z-series.

As stated, even the intel GMA950 will run aero.

    Thanks for all the replies~

I will be using the notebook for business and the occiassional movie, I will not use the computer for any professional color work. I figure the widescreen will be better for excel and productivity.

That's a preference (widescreen vs standard); large excel files, yes, everyday computing / productivity = your choice.
