I'm trying to upgrade the ram in my friend's z60m so I bought a 2 gig stick of pc-4200 ram and replaced the one that was already in there. But now I get BSODs and I ran memtest and told me the ram was at fault. It's prob cause I read that the max it can take is 1 gig per slot. So is that the problem? I also read that there are 2 ram slots, but I only found one in the manual and computer, the one under the palm rest. Where is the other one?
Thanks

Maybe it's BSODing because 2GB of memory is the max. The other slot is under the keyboard I believe. Consult the Hardware Maintenance Manual to see how to do it. Check the sticky for a link.

I checked the manual last night and it doesn't mention any slot under the keyboard. Plus if there was one, I think its empty, because before the upgrade it was only recognizing the 512 stick that I took out and now its only recognizing the 2 gig stick that I put in.

It says on page 65 of the manual the slots are stacked on top of each other.

Look at the picture.

Oh, ok I figured everything out. I see the two slots now that I know what I'm looking for. It turns out the stick was just bad. I switched his 2 gig stick and my 2 gig stick and my computer wouldn't even boot while his passed the memtest. Guess it's time to go back to fry's. Thanks for the help.
