I'm going to try to be as specific as possible with the issue and how it happened.

So I dropped my laptop off my bed when I fell asleep. It must have landed on the charger because it's smashed in. However, charging works just fine.

The real problem is my display.
When I power on I can see the logo flicker alongside some colors of streaked red and blue (thin lines).
It goes black and then the same happens with the windows 8 boot logo.
After that (my laptop has an SSD so it boots very fast) the screen is on (I can see the LCD is lit) but nothing is displayed.
Waiting on that screen, it won't even flicker in the slightest.

I'm plugged into a monitor now and using it as my only display works fine for today, but I need to find out what exactly is broken so I can replace it (I'm in the process of getting my screwdriver and laptop toolkit to open the thing up (any advice for this is appreciated as well).

Thanks for any help that can be provided

    Update:

I have disassembled my laptop and found that, because the charging port overheated and melted the plastic, the port created pressure on the wire running to the LCD. As a result, two of the wires have been damaged, one being severed in half and the other simply being squished. I will try to fix the wires and that should solve all the screen problems. For anybody doing this, I would recommended fixing the charger port in place and padding the wires more to prevent the damage from occurring over time in the future.
