    Hi,

I bought my Lenovo T61p, and want updgrade memory because want run applications most fast, details are:

    Intel T9300 2.5Ghz 6MB L2 Cache Core2Duo Processor
    14.1" SXGA+ TFT (1400 x 1050)
nVidia Quadro FX 570M - 128MB TurboCache Dedicated Graphics Card
    2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 667Mhz RAM
    Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

The Laptop has installed one Module of 2GB ( above details )....Want updgrade the memory...How is the Part Number and How is the Mfg recommendation ( Kingston, Crucial, etc, etc ) ? where can buy it ?

Is good idea buy 1GB or Buy 2GB ?

    Sorry but I am new,

    Thanks

Get another stick of 2gb of pc5300 ddr2. Doesn't really matter what brand.

4GB in Ram with 32 Bit OS ? Think that I have read that 4GB work good with 64 Bit OS, But not with 32 Bits OS ?

    Thanks

32 bit OS's cannot see 4 GB of RAM. There's ways to force it to, but I haven't read into it much. If you don't plan to go 64-bit, just get a 1GB stick of pc5300 ddr2

I've got 3gb of kingstons for my 32bit vista... runs everything great... also, the new intel chips ur t61 comes with are able to run odd valued memory in dual channel so no worries there...

    stick with 3gb.

Other recent ThinkPads like the T60 can run 3GB in asymmetric dual channel mode just fine too. The performance gain from either asymmetric or symmetric dual channel isn't worth the trouble if that's all that one's after.

If one's running a 32-bit OS and has no plans to upgrade to a 64-bit OS *and* can score another 2GB stick for the same cheap price as a 1GB stick, then upgrading to 4GB (2GB+2GB) makes sense. If not, then just upgrade to 3GB (2GB+1GB).

for everyday use...3 gb and 4 gb isn't gonna matter and the only time your gonna notice a difference is if you benchmark...unless you find a great deal on a 2 gb stick...don't do it.

by the look of it, this ram is one of those "standard" (as every brand has a "value" aka cheap deal ram) with timings of 5-5-5-15

that's why someone previously said that brand doesnt matter for value rams..

and since laptops almost cannot overclock, there is no need to worried too much about the timings
