I bought a Lenovo 3000 N100 0768-A49 from eBay. It was relatively new, but the OS and software seems to have been reinstalled before the seller sent it to me.
Many of the software and other drivers were not there anymore. I did not have ThinkVantage or other Lenovo software (including the fingerprint reader). I want to reinstall to factory settings... but I'm having difficulty. Currently I'm downloading the Rescue and Recovery 4.0 (but I don't have any version installed yet). I tried to restore everything from the recovery partition (at startup, I press the Lenovo Care button and press F11 - but that just loads Vista (nothing different than the usual Vista OS, no extra screens, etc.)). I did flash the BIOS provided by Lenovo thinking that it was an update, I'm not sure if that is the reason why the recovery partition does not work, or if it was destroyed when the other person reinstalled the OS and software.
Do you have any suggestions on how to restore to factory settings? As stated, I don't have Rescue and Recovery 3.0 or 3.1, and I think that 4.0 requires a previous version. The recovery partition seems to be still intact, but I am unable to access it.
Thanks

Hi,
Not that I can help you at this time, but I am having the same problem as you with the same machine. The recovery partition on mine has been wipped from the hard drive by someone who called themselves a PC repair engineer. Doh !!
Is anyone able to provide a Ghost image (or similar) of the recovery partion on this machine that I can recover the recovery partition then recover the OS as it should be. I'm happy to pay (within reason). -
well, what you can do is the following:
1) download a software called testdisk-6.6.win it free, because what happens is that the lenovo care software can not see the partition so it will never boot up because the partition get's dameged for some reason. So run the software and recover the data of the partion, it will be stored in testdisk folder.
2) format and copy the image files to a usb hard drive.
3) press f12 to boot the computer from the usb hard drive and restore your computer.
NOTE, please send an email to the developer of Testdrive because with out his software we will still be fried... -
Well dave i have the image, but i dont have a fast internet coneccion, but if invo300 recovers the image fallowing the process i posted befor, he will have an image he can share with you.

(except that you should not download the "ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software 5.6" since it is not for the 3000 series).
Also, make sure that you download the drivers/software only for your OS (either Vista or XP, not both).
