For those of so upset by the new Thinkpad (non-IBM) logo on the T61 that you've gone as far as considering getting a T60 just to have the old classic logo, beware:
Today I just got a T60 (2008-ULS, build date 2007-04-27) with the new (yes, non-IBM) sticker on both wristpad area and outer cover.
    The times they are a-chang-ed.

As long as the build quality remains the same they can put a Dell label on the laptop for all I care. It doesn't bother me a bit. :)

Thanks for the info. I agree with Rodknee though, a logo is just the logo as long as everything else is as it was or better.

I don't know, the new logo looks a little too modern. The old logo fit the design of the ThinkPad, something that looks like it was designed in the 80s.

That's interesting. jhrice's machine was built the day before I even ordered mine. My T60 still has the IBM logos on the lid and wristpad, though it has a Lenovo label at the bottom edge of the screen frame. Mine was a 15.4 widescreen.

most important thing is the build quality. but I do have to admit that I do not like the new logo, partly because what the old logo represented and we have come to associate that logo with reliability, high quality...etc. I think its more of what we associate the logo with than the actual design of the logo itself. But with time, we will get to like the new logo (not like we really have a choice).

Andrew did mention in his T61 review that business customers can still choose to have the old IBM logo if desired. What exactly constitutes a "business" customer, I'm not sure.

Yeah, that's true. I don't care for the new one myself either. I guess I'm not too bothered by it anymore though because it was bound to happen at some point. Still though, a choice to choose would be the best option.

me neither...I too dont care for the logo issue much. Quality is what all matters to me than brand appeal. As Lenovo has been maintaining the standards they sure have the right to put whatever they wish on their product. Though it might look a bit new(odd for some) we will get used to that....A choice would be a nice option, but at any point of time they have to stop using the IBM brand.

It's also hit and miss as is their shipping. My T60 just arrived today and it has the IBM logo. Like I said it really doesn't matter as long as they continue delivering the Thinkpad quality we've come to know and love.
