I want to get a new, more powerful battery for my R61i, which came with a 4 cell batt.
I saw a bunch of 3rd party batteries on eBay and I must admit I had a good experience with the one that I bought for my previous Dell Inspiron. It worked super.
Before I go ahead and buy one I just wanted to ask for your opinions. Batteries on eBay range from 47.99 to 85-90$. I'm talking about only the 3rd party ones with 6-12 months warranty.
Here's one that I have in mind:

What do you say? Should I "bite" the bate one more time?![]()

7200mAh is a 9-cell I believe, not 12. Unfortunately, only non-widescreen ThinkPads can support that. The R61i is a 15-inch widescreen.
That is my spin on it and that is what I conclude.
But apparently these sites disagree:

Of course, you can always e-mail or call the seller and ask. Then if it doesn't fit, return for a refund. -
It probably has 12 cells in it but it only performs like a 9. Gotta love eBay advertising

It could be a 12-cell. Because it's not made by IBMLenovo (it doesn't have that familiar rounded edge on one side of the battery), it could have 12 differently-specced cells (in terms of mah) than what Lenovo normally uses.
-
Its a 9 cell battery, but I would not use it in my laptop though. For another $50 I could have the real thing.

I think I'll go with the eBay one. -

If I get it, I'll sure do that.
