This deal was too good to pass up. Smokin!!![]()
With employee pricing you pay what we pay plus the stackable USP48HOURSDEC45 coupon I received a total 20% discount off list for my new X301.
My total cost was lower because of the configuration with a std 120 SATA drive & turbo memory vs the SSDs. My budget will be much happier.
Bottom line $2,393 with free shipping & 3 year depot warranty for ..
.

Congrats, blownaway!
I'm still wrestling with deciding between the Lenovo and waiting for the new Toshiba R600 to become available.
The lightness of the Toshiba appeals to me (notebooks travel with me a lot)...Conversely, the solid build, great keyboard, and extra screen real estate of the X301 are strong scale tippers... -
I suggest you get the x301 (or x200s if you would be better served by an ExpressCard slot, Modem, Card Reader and docking station than an integrated DVD±RW) rather than waiting for a Toshiba R600.
Keyboard quality, screen real estate, and durability are easily worth an extra 8 ounces for the x301 (or same weight for the x200s with 4 cell battery). -
This coupon doesn't seem to be working for the Canadian Site on a T500.
-
jon,
Thanks for your input -- I tend to agree.
Unfortunately, the U.S. does not have a Federal employee purchase program, so I can't get a discount there...
Also -- I'm still not seeing the 120GB hard drive downgrade option on the Lenovo site!
As far as the X200 -- I'm afraid I had to drop it from contention because it doesn't have a trackpad--and I just can't get used to the rubber nipple... (I know -- sacrilege on an IBM site...
).
' -
To each their own. I find the TrackPoint, nipple, nub, etc. to be the best pointing device ever designed (at least in the IBM/Lenovo implementation, the HP/DELL copy is a lot worse). It is right in the center of the keyboard and allows for very quick, precise movements with a minimum of effort (you should try changing caps and adjusting sensitivity [really light touch] to personalize the experience). I even have a TrackPoint keyboard on my desktop (saves me reaching up onto the desk for a mouse, just type blind and move the TrackPoint with a keyboard in a drawer).
Take another test drive with the TrackPoint. You may find you like it, and the lack of a touchpad is too small of a reason to automatically disqualify the x200s (it is a great, light, and well featured machine). -
Great -- another choice to agonize over...!
Okay -- will give the X200 a second consideration... -
I honestly don't know what's up with the Lenovo site. On monday night the option was there, but now it's not there. Strange. I called lenovo yesterday about this, and they said it could have been a "web error", and the 120GB HD is not an option at the moment. I mentioned the IBM US press release that was released on Tuesday re: this new option but they had no further information. I saved my cart instantly on Monday night and opened my cart last night when I ordered it. I hope Lenovo follows through and doesn't cancel my order. If they do, I'll push for a 128GB SSHD upgrade.
Stay tuned
-
Thanks, blownaway -- this is turning into an intriguing, if frustrating, little saga!
I hope you get or order! -
I'm looking to order a x200 for myself too!
-
They do SALES word everyday with same average price.
-
Yea, your right but I have found with employee pricing discounts it's harder to find a stackable coupon that gives you more than 15% off.
I've only been tracking employee pricing for the past 2 weeks or so perhaps 20% discounts are common. The last time I saw the same deal it was over last black friday weekend. Of course it also depends on the computer you want. -
Thanks for sharing good codes.
-
Wow, free shipping too. Does anyone know what the shipping cost is normally?
-
**** lenovo
tried to get a price adjustment and they refused. said that a part number had changed and if the quote is not a 100% exact they cannot price match. I even had the rep build the same exact machine but since the part number for the gfx card change, they will not honor a price match. oh well it was only like $7.00 -
a tip?
-
No idea; it's been free since I've been looking (months).
-
Hi blownaway,
Just keeping this thread "active"...
Any contact from IBM as to whether you have a "real" order?
' -
Yea, amazingly the order is still intact. I check yesterday and today the order is in process and has an estimated ship day of 12/16! They have clearly noted the HD & Turbo Memory. Could I be the first to get one? Amazing! I hope Lenovo comes through on this

Well, thanks to this thread, I too took the plunge and picked up a new Lenovo. I have a 4 year old Thinkpad R52 that's starting to get a little slow for what I'm doing with it now. So I decided to stop procrastinating and pick up a T500. Ended up going with these options...
ThinkPad T500
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T9400 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2)
Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic
15.4" WSXGA+ TFT, w/ CCFL Backlight
ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 with 256MB
2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)
UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)
160 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
Intel® Turbo Memory hard drive cache : Intel Turbo Memory 2GB
DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim (Serial ATA)
Intel WiFi Link 5300 (AGN)
Integrated Mobile Broadband upgradable
6 cell Li-Ion Battery
3 year depot 9x5 Next Business Day
I ended up paying $1,362.55 a couple days ago, and now this same setup is showing up as $1,608.25. Saved about $250.
My order also is "In Process" with an estimated ship date of 12/16/08.
-
Congrats FunkyBoss, glad you took the leap also. Great choice; good deal.
-
I'm about to take the leap too, maybe. Going for a x200
stay tuned -
Congrats, FunkyBoss!
I'm still watching the saga of blownaway's HD-equipped X301...
When that configuration becomes routinely available in the U.S., I'm guessin' I'll finally pull the pin... -
The option for 120GB HD is now on the Lenovo Hong Kong site.....

Ohh, I just checked my e-mail and I can't believe it. Lenovo shipped my laptop today!!
Wow, I'm impressed and surprised. Maybe I'll be first after all.
