I just updated my T61 bios via System Update, no problems.
-
I had to use the bootable CD since I run Vista 64-bit, but it was very easy and I had no problems.
-
Thanks for the heads up

Just successfully updated my T61's BIOS with System Update.
-
any big change?
-
Sounds like a significant fix if you have Intel AMT or the Intel Turbo Memory
-
-
-
does that translate to any performance increase? or stability?
-
The only way to know would to be able and see notes on what was implemented. I don't see any, so who knows.

Hi everyone,
I am having a very big problem and I cannot seem to resolve it with Lenovo.
I currently own a T61p with win XP which I bought with basic warranty in January 2008.
I did not have too many problems with the laptop so far. I have always took good care of it and updated the software every time when something was required. This morning I have updated to latest "Bios update" 2.14 from Lenovo site using their automated update program. Everything went well and the system restarted without problems. After that I put the laptop into hibernation and went to meet with someone. I wanted to show that person something on my laptop and guess what. I tried to wake up the computer and I got black screen with white small icon in the upper left corner asking for some sort of password!!!
I do not have such a password!!! I never set up in the first place so how comes that it asks for a password? I called Lenovo and they said that I should pay some 100 bucks to get help with this issue. After fighting with them and pointing out that this is not my problem they very much hang up on me.
COULD SOMEONE HELP ME, PLEASE!!! Sorry for the long story but I am really frustrated and do not know what to do. -
I have just realized that this cannot be discussed in this forum because one of the moderators just closed my thread. I am sorry I did not know. Could someone at least tell me if this thing happened to someone else?
Thank you -
glc, have you tried rebooting the computer?
-
and if that doesn't work, download an iso image of the bios on another computer, burn the image, and reflash the bios from the bootable cd. might have been some garbage in the password memory area after the flash.

It seems as though this BIOS update has been producing negative effects:

Anyone who is planning to flash the BIOS should know this before doing so.
Thank you bsodder for sending me this link. -
Does this fix the deadly double dimm crash? Because it seems that the solution for that problem is overdue.

The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
The solution to this problem has already been posted by Mark Lenovo last week on this board and the Lenovo forums. It requires a full MOBO replacement, A bios update won't fix it. -
Good news everybody.
Lenovo has listened to our responses and complaints. They will provide a solution to this issue as soon as possible.
