Others have discussed the island design in other reviews and I have personally used it at CES. It doesn't feel exactly the same but feels nice and has a slightly shorter travel than the other thinkpad keyboards. You can type quite quickly with them too.

It could be 10 different colors for all I care. If the design doesn't affect my typing speed, I'm all for it as well.
