A new Video Driver popped up in Windows Update today, with the release date as above, 12/16/07.

However i can't find it on Lenovos Webpage and the links in Windows update provides ZERO information about the updates nature.

I have been able of playing Crysis on medium settings with relative stability, finished the game with one or two hang-ups(Ctrl-alt-delete-solveable), no crashes. I have however since then installed the BIOS update in hope of thwarting also this behavior. Perhaps this update can help as well, however, installing it without knowing what it is for is not my cup of tea...

Anyone here who has got a better idea than me what this is?
    Thnx/JF

Don't even touch hardware updates through Windows Update. They are just very unreliable. Only trust the company you bought it from or nVidia themselves.

I have an Update for the nVidia 140M sitting in there and it says it's a November Update...Lenovo has theirs at Oct for XP systems.

I thought so to, however had to ask! thanks for the advice, bet it saved me at least a system restore. ;)

If anyone has the guts to try it out, post here if its improving anything! - Now I'm going to wrap up some excel-sheets and hurry home to see what the BIOS update has done for my stability in Crysis....

Arkit3kt, so where does Windows find its updates? I've been curious about that for a long time. I have a 140m update sitting there too (now hidden, actually, you might want to get that eye sore out of the way. ;) ) and neither lenovo nor nvidia have it. But where does M$ get it from?

I'm not totally sure to be honest. I know that when you plug in a new hardware, it asks to search Windows Update for the latest driver, which I still don't do.

I think it goes through your device manager and see if it has any updated drivers in there database.

And already had it hidden. ;)

I highly doubt it. The ones from laptopvideo2go are user made and tested, not Microsoft made. ;)

I think the positive thing is that there are multiple sites and drivers out there for testing with new drivers being introduced all the time. Many have forum feedback from user like the laptopvideo2go and a user can try/use any of the drivers until he/she has found the combo that supports his/her favorite software needs.

Once you find the driver that does support your needs......keep it.

By the way, I have had my T61p for only a week and have been happy to see these sources:

    ...Nvidia
    ...Laptopvideo2go
    ...Windows update
    ...Lenovo systems update
    ...Forums

Are there any other sites out there? I guess it could get confusing to many.

The trick, though, is to find a driver that works for you and your particular software....then stick with it.

I ended up for my FX570m with the 169.04 driver and the forum upgrade to 8600GT which works for all my gaming software.

I actually would like to see a poll on what drivers the users on the forum ended up with....
