I'm planning to get the 7200 rpm, 200GB Hitachi Travelstar, but the problem is I dont know how im going to get my vista on it. can i just use the recovery dvd on the new hard drive? or can i follow the clean install guide on the new hard drive and use the ABR program to activate it?

The 7200RPM Hitachi Travelstar hard drives come with an enclosure kit and software to let you clone your old hard drive. You then swap the drives.

    that is a good deal........

i see you have ultimate- normally you could copy the drive to an external usb hard drive, etc. but i've had BAD luck trying to restore from a usb drive taht was partitioned differently. others may have had better luck.

i always use acronis true image home 11-> if you want more good infor ;) , feel free to pm me

FYI, the OEM version only has the hard drive. No kit or software is included. I just got it from Newegg.

I downloaded Vista x64 and burned it to a disc and installed from that to the new hard drive.
