Has anyone tried the new intel X3100 driver?
It was released on April 25. I upgraded it but got tons of problems like screen blinking and freezing.

Nope haven't had any issues with it since the upgrade. Does anyone know if this is the fabled DX10 drivers for the card? I have a T61 which powers a 15.4" @ 1680x1050.

not sure but doesnt look like its worth holding your breath. this from engadget:

"Intel has been boasting of DirectX 10 support for its various integrated graphics options for some time now, but it's only just recently gotten around to actually releasing a Vista driver that brings its GM965 and G35 Express chipsets up to speed. Of course, NVIDIA just couldn't help itself from getting a few (more) digs in at Intel's expense, and it's now kindly provided a few benchmarks to show just how badly Intel's integrated DirectX 10 solution stacks up against the bleeding-edge DirectX 10-ready games it now ostensibly supports. They couldn't find a single game that was able to crank out more than 5 fps, even at a lowly 1280 x 1024 resolution and with the usual graphics intensive settings turned off. Then again, 4.4 fps in Crysis is pretty much par for the course."

I just installed it 10 min ago. So far so good. No problems yet. But haven't noticed any difference from previous version either

Request: Before anyone updates, can you do the following:

Right click on the Intel Graphics icon in the icon tray --> graphic properties --> click on the ! button on the top right

What does it say beside "DirectX Version"? Just curious.

    After update, it says 10.0

I just figured out I did not upgrade the monitor driver after clean install.
Now the intel driver works great for me.
    Thanks for asking kltye. :)

I tried it and I get no blinking screen. You might want to upgrade your video drivers or change the refresh rate on your screen

Hey, I got a blinking screen too. I know what you're talking about.

The reason why the screen blinks is because the LCD refresh rate is constantly being changed. To fix this, go into Graphics Properties, Display Settings, Power Settings and Disable Power Savings.

We never had this problem in previous drivers because Intel didn't have a power management aspect to the x3100. I think the reason why the blinking persists is because the Thinkvantage software, when on battery stretch, also modifies the LCD refresh rate thus conflicting with Intel's.

As for driver performance, I think the 15.9 is a huge upgrade over previous drivers. I can get 100+ FPS (think IceWorld) on low-texture CS:S maps at 1280x800.

    Yeah, your are right.
I thought the bliking screen is related to monitor driver, but I was wrong.
I disabled the power saving and now I have no blinking issue when on the battry.
