There is a new two day sale. Look like you can get an extra 15% off the T400, T500, and W500 series. The sale is across the board for all notebooks, so the % discount will vary. The coupon code is USP2DAYSONLY.

Also there a few new options on the T500. Which include two new processors the T5670 and T5870 which are both selling for $9774. (I'm sure those prices will change.) There are a few other new options too, like 4 GB of RAM without having to pick a 64 bit OS.

    Check it out.

Tsk tsk... It's just an employee pricing sale. Nothing you don't see everyday with CPP.

I just noticed, on the T400 configuration page (integrated graphics, didn't check dedicate), if you select Vista Business, you have the option of recieving an XP Pro recovery DVD (doesn't say downgrade disc).

the diff. is with CPP you can't return the product. that being said, with this two days sale you can actually get the machine you want at the same price and also keeping the option of sending it back if you weren't happy with it.

Nicely configured T400 for $800 or X200 for $950. The $800 is less than I paid for my R60 a couple years ago, which was a great deal at the time.

Not everyone has access to CPP.

Actually it really depends on what you have configured the machine at.
If you have chosen the 4GB option, most likely it will be cheaper at the CPP site despite the said % that EPP gives you.
Too bad they also took away most of the warranty options for the T500.. Bummer!

I made several sample orders. The 2 day discount prices beat student and alumni prices.

A T400 with integrated graphics can be ordered with a 2 year accidental damage warranty at a cost of $199 (before discount).

A T400 with a graphics card can be ordered with a longer 3 year accidental damage warranty for $209 (before discount).

As far as I know, that's been an option with Vista Business or Ultimate since the T400 came out (actually since well before the T400 came out)

I placed an order last night using the CPP code and will cancel
since this sale saves me about $30 more.

I just tried it without the student discount and the final price with that coupons is $1175CAD ($125 less than with the student thing).... and I have the 2.40GHz compared to the 2.26GHz on my student cart!

    Sweetness.

    eCoupon for canada : CAP2DAYSONLY

BTW: I don't have any different option than yesthurday expect that it come with Vista Business by default! (I downgraded to Vista Basic since I'll do a Clean Install)

I built two T400's today - one using this "sale" and one using EPP. There was a significant price difference between the two, they're not offering EPP pricing through this sale.

could you be more specific? i didn't look into it in details, but the two prices appear to be really close. i can understand there's some diff. since we are getting various discounts on diff. parts under the two programs, but not anything "significant" as you put it

Sorry I was quite vague. I built two T400's today simultaneously and selected the exact same specs for each (including 3 yr in-home warranty for each). I came up with a difference of $150+. The T400 I built using the EPP was cheaper than using the link from lenovo.com's website that says "pay what we pay for two days". Hope this helps. I'm just saying its not employee pricing as advertised.

i just bought a t400 with discrete graphics, 4 gigs of ram, 2.8 ghz processor, 9 cell battery and 80 gig harddrive. my ship date is supposedly 9/25/08...also I was thinking about upgrading the harddrive myself i was planning on putting the WD scorpio black 320GB one in it, how hard would that be with a thinkpad? I had to do the same with my macbookpro and i had to remove the entire case which was a pain.

Very easy, on the back of the laptop you can see all the information, that's thinkpad.
Just have a look of T400 review, you can get more information about T400

That's great choice if you don't have a CPP code
What's the price of your W500? and the configuration?
    I have also ordered a W500 at about 1420$ with 3 year warranty(in tax)

I haven't gotten the W500, but I think of going with the T500 instead because I want the lower heat signature, which W500 doesn't have. I have been comparing the two for the last few days. I still haven't bought one yet, but I will today. :)
