Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
-
want to take a look of this baby. Hopefully release soon in the U.S.
I have a dell studio 11z, that little baby with ION base 9400M G graphic. Sure it's powerful than x4500, but my laptop gets warm and hot pretty fast. Therefore, i think for a netbook, an relatively powerful integrated graphic card like x4500 is preferred.
Big plus, this one get rid off the Atom~ -
any1 got an idea, when this little beast hit the shops?
-
one would think that during christmas and new year period would be a likely release date.

-
Comes with eSATA nice.
3 USB
nice display
Very good all around -
Wait it can be had in a 11.1in screen or a 11.6in screen? Will the dimensions of the device it self be different? I wish Lenovo went a bit more to the edge with the keyboard, and made it a bit more like the U110 in terms of design. I wonder how durable this really is. -
nice, would be better if it is a thinkpad.
-
-
LOL at post above!!!
I sent a PM to the "big guys" here, so that this news gets to the Notebook News and Reviews Forum.
Thanks for sharing -
yes i should start my own museum of some sort, like mobile phones, laptops, graphic calculators....
-
Can i ask you...what have you got so many thnikpadds?
-
Well... someone's signature on this board said "Once you ThinkPad, you can't think back"... how true that is. See, I just bought another ThinkPad: an X200!

I'm kind of on the fence as to whether I should buy this or an Acer 1410/1810.
Acer seems to have more performance for the penny, but Lenovo's build quality will surely be much better.
Help me decide please!
Kind of leaning toward the Lenovo. -
The Acer AS1410 with U2300 CPU, at $400, is an incredible deal. It is a bit lighter than U150, and its keyboard a little bigger than U150. In Japan, at least, AS1410 is also quite a bit cheaper than U150. On the other hand, U150 has built-in Bluetooth and eSATA port. I think we will see U150 US pricing tomorrow.
Based on how Lenovo priced the ION S12, I don't think U150 will be cheap. If you are going to spend $550+ on U150, you might as well spend a little more and get a X200s, which currently has a deep discount. -
-
I'm very curious about this as I've never used one before so any insight would be much appreciated.
Many thanks! -
-
U150 is officially released in the US. It weighs 3lbs with a 3-cell battery, and the starting price is $585.
-
Oh man, thats bit pricey, i mean, APS is nice, but for that money... id rather add some more cash and get something more serious, for example TP series :/
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
For the price, the Acer 1810 is a better deal.
-
I have been checking the lenovo site for several days and I can't find the U150.
Was it really released yet?
Does it come with the SU 2700 or SU 3500?
The prices mentioned in this thread do seem somewhat high, considering the competition... -
It's out
It is quite pricey, but how do I get the red one with the black one's spec ??
Also, do you think it will handle HD streaming with the new flash 10.1 ? I am debating whether I should wait for the new Asus 1201N (ION with Atom 330 dual core).

Just came out?
Now lowered price yet?
Give it some time, Lenovo IdeaPads normally get a price cut of about 150-200 to make it look cheaper. ;p
Those specs are quite good I have to say. -
I would love to see an in depth review, especially battery life tests. Specs look good.
-
Very nice looking notebook. Would also love to read an in depth review.
-
Here comes the first review:
http://netbooked.net/netbook-reviews/review/11.6-lenovo-ideapad-u150-su2300-6-cell-battery-review/
The blogger lives in Tokyo, where U150 has been available for a while. -
The reviewer mentioned that he couldn't get the spare internal PCIe slot to work. =[ The moment I hear someone can get a WWAN card working on the U150, I'm buying one.
-
Under the U series "Compare" section on Lenovo's site, it lists the U150 as having Bluetooth. Can't wait to see these in person.

I have been through a few netbooks, first was an S10, which was OK, but the screen size and atom wasn't a great experience. Next was a Gateway LT31 with an AMD CPU and good graphics, but it got hot and the 1.2GHz CPU was lame. Next was a Sony Vaioi VPC-W111xx which had a very nice 10.1" hi-res screen, super light, and WIFI N and bluetooth but an Atom N280 (brain dead again). Now the midnight black loaded U150, which I have high hopes for. I have a Fujitsu P1620 that I use in the Cessna as an EFB and it has the older ULV 1.2GHz Core2Duo (can you say 'expensive CPU'?). I like the ULV CPU's but the 1620 has a slow 4200RPM 1.8" HDD.... Ideally I'd like a 10.1" with a 1366x768 screen, CULV, 4GB, BT and 500GB HDD....

Can you please post your thoughts after having used the U150? I am wondering why the U150 and X100e and the Edge are all so close in the Lenovo line. Seems that U150 beats the other two in specs altho it does have plastic not metal, I believe. Isnt Lenovo tripping on itself? Is the U150 lacking in it doesnt have an Express Card slot?
I am also comparing to Acer 1810T 3810T, Asus 20A, and the HP 5310 -
perfectionseeker Notebook Evangelist
does it come with a matte screen ? Waiting for some serious reviews of the X100e
-
I would be interested to know:
- if you can get it with integrated WWAN
- What would be the heat and batterylife of the U150 with the SU7300
- What are you experiences/feeling with the noice? I currently have a HP6910p that constantly has its fan on
- Would it be possible to remove the lenovo logo on the cover. This would make it even better
I currently have a HP 6910p and Samsung NC10 and am looking to replace it with one smaller notebook -
Got an email half an hour ago from Lenovo to say it has shipped. I got 2 day shipping included so maybe it will be here before the weekend. I'll update this thread with my first impressions and if I get time a complete review. Oh I got the fully-loaded midnight black model wth 4Gb and 320GB HDD and the betteer proc. Can't wait, Christmas came late this year!

I own the Black version U150
The heat from the SU7300 is minimal...using CoreTemp I only see around 40 degrees C for normal usage, surfing, taking notes. The left palm rest does get warm but bearable.
For the noise, its very quiet
For the logo I'm not sure if you can take it off, its pretty nice and shiny imo
I'm loving every bit of it -
What is your experience so far with the battery life ? -
So I've had my Black U150 for 1 day now. Initial impressions are very good. Here's my micro-review
Positives
- Battery life - 7+ hours with average use
- Plays 720p with 35% CPU utilization. 1080p plays fine with about 50%.
- Gigabit Ethernet is great (whole home is GBe) ALL notebooks should have GBe IMHO
- 4GB DDR-2 800, BT 2.1, Intel 802.11n WIFI Link-5100.
- At idle the fan doesn't seem to spin at all - virtually silent.
- Bright screen, not too glossy (horrah).
- CPU does everything I could ask with no appreciable lag.
- Some parts are metal, such as the LCD exterior cover.
- Pattern in case and LCD cover.
- Light-weight
- Small power supply
- Easy to to get to HDD, memory and mini-PCIe slots.
- Good keyboard.
- Runs pretty cool.
Negatives
- The little slot for the notebook lock doesn't fit any of the 3 scissor type locks I tried. This is a major problem for me as I travel a lot and need to secure the laptop at customer sites, hotel rooms etc. I will be calling on Monday and possibly returning this if it can't be resolved.
- Ctrl/Fn Keys reversed.
- Not easy to rest on lap due to battery shape.
- Loaded with a lot of junk s/w, and I do mean loaded.
- Win 7 64-bit. For me just too many things don't work right. After 2 hours I dropped in a 500GB HDD and loaded W7 Ultimate. Drivers are up on lenovo.com
- Battery sticks out of the bottom quite noticably (I can slide my fingers under the sides) and has two little (read: will fall off) rubber feet. Once those feet come off, I fully expect the notebook will slide around on the desk.
- Mouse pointer seems to suffer from a bit of lag. Going to try a couple of different Synaptics drivers to seen. At least it is a Synaptics keypad.
- All LED's on the machine are white. Difficult to see what is what when they are all the same color
- No backlit keyboard
- Camera is grainy with some streaking. But I never expect anything from a notebook camera.
- Lenovo shipped it in it's regular box, which got a little banged up - Doesn't seem to affected anything but really, it should be inside a stout cardboard box for shipping.

I am getting more and more certain that this is the one for me.
Some questions:
- Would it be possible to replace the HDD by a SSD ?
- Did it come with a 3G module ?
- Was it easy to remove the junk ? Normally I only like to have the software that is needed -
If it is a standard SATA 2.5" then I don't see why not. Swapping out the HDD was very easy.
- Did it come with a 3G module ?
No and the SIM slot doesn't have any of the electronics to interface to the SIM and whilst the second Mini-PCIe slot is present there are no spare antennae connectors floating around....

Sorry, I don't really know as I got fed up with W7-64 and had planned from the beginning to put in a larger HDD, so I didn't both to de-junk it. There were pop-up, trial offers and tons of desktop icons. The facial recognition s/w was also getting on my nerves.
